Winner of two of his 13 starts over the larger obstacles. Expected to run a big race in the Kerry National on Wednesday but the Scorpion gelding failed to make it in the race as a reserve. Leading player.
Failed to quicken after the last on handicap chase debut at the Galway festival last month. Looks a weaker contest here and likely to go well for stable in good form here this week.
Dual chase winner appears to be struggling of late over fences when well down the field in a number of starts since June. Plenty to prove.
Has failed to build on a win at Punchestown over the larger obstacles in June with a number of disappointing efforts since. Others hold stronger profiles.
Won a second chase win of his career when landing a Killarney handicap over this trip last month off a 7lb lower mark. Life more difficult under a penalty but very much a leading player.
Three from 17 over the larger obstacles. off the track for 230 days before returning to action at Ballinrobe in May when second of nine behind Draycott Place. Worth a market check.
Tough and genuine sort, winner of three of his 15 starts over fences, hitting the frame on a further six occasions. Little out of sorts recently and may need some relief from the handicapper.
Most recent victory over the larger obstacles came in a Leopardstown handicap on St Stephens day off a 3lb lower mark. Well held since and liable to find a couple stronger.
Two from 10 over fences, the Stowaway gelding appears to be struggling a little since his revised mark in January. Yard in good form this week and worthy of consideration in first-time blinkers.
Off the mark for respected connections at the seventh time of asking over fences when landing a Wexford handicap in July off a 6lb lower mark. Down the field at Killarney since but a little early to be writing off just yet.
Flattered by the finishing positions earlier in the season before pulling up when tailed off at Tramore last month. Out of sorts recently and this looks a tough task.
Useful 118-rated handicap hurdle, yet to hit the frame in six starts over fences. Earlier promise appears to have leveled out in a number of recent starts and others look to have stronger claims.
Form of her Down Royal win in May has completely deserted the daughter of Mahler in a number of dour performances over fences. Will need to raise overall profile to play a apart here.
Forecasts
Black Scorpion (3/1), Act In Time (9/2), Presenting Mahler (5/1), Ballyegan Hero (7/1), Punches Cross (8/1), Successor (8/1), Or Jaune De Somoza (14/1), Peacocks Secret (14/1), Rocky Court (14/1), Reach Up (16/1), Supreme Vinnie (16/1), Seskin Flyer (25/1), Tisamystery (25/1)
The connections of BLACK SCORPION were disappointed when the eight-year-old failed to make the line-up for the Kerry National here on Wednesday, but the Scorpion gelding can make up for lost time here. The winner of two of his seven starts over the larger obstacles can get the better of the J P McManus pair, Act In Time the mount of Mark Walsh and the Joseph O'Brien-trained Punches Cross, two of three running for the owner. Or Jaune De Somoza for trainer Henry De Bromhead is another worthy of consideration.
- Black Scorpion
- Act In Time
- Punches Cross
