C&D winner in May off 1lb lower but blew the start when favourite here last time from an also good draw. That's now three poor starts in a row which does cast some doubts despite another good berth.

Disappointed on very firm ground at Yarmouth but in career best form with a win and a second either side. Going well and likely to go close once again in similar form.

Suited by some give in the ground and didn't have the best draw at Haydock latest. JUst 2lb higher than previous win at Beverley and remains on a good enough mark to be involved again.

Won two in a row, over this C&D and then a mile at Newmarket. Ran to a similar level off this mark in a stronger handicap again over this C&D last time and hard to think he won't be involved in this form.

Gained a first win on turf at Windsor last month which continued his progress this campaign. Struggled to go the pace in a stronger York race latest and while he should be better here, others slightly better handicapped.

Twice a winner here and 5lb higher than 7f win in June. Well tried since but below that on his last three starts. Back in grade but more needed.

11/2
Gained an overdue second success from 26 starts at Haydock on quick ground over 7f last time. Took advantage of falling mark and low grade and this is much tougher off 4lb higher.

Forecasts

Humble Gratitude (11/4), Spirit Warning (7/2), Smile A Mile (5/1), Gabrial The Wire (11/2), Mickey (11/2), King's Pavilion (8/1), Sha La La La Lee (8/1)

Verdict

With the run two starts back best forgiven, Smile A Mile can continue his run of improved form in suitable conditions. King's Pavillion should have the softer ground he craves and providing there isn't drying conditions he shouldn't be far away. HUMBLE GRATITUDE is in flying form, is clearly well suited by this C&D and gets the verdict back in grade.
  1. Humble Gratitude
  2. Smile A Mile
  3. King's Pavilion
