Into the veteran stage now, not the most regular of winners but still capable of the odd good effort; takes a drop in grade here and with both trip and likely ground fine, isn't discounted in a weak event.

Has fallen a fair way in the handicap over the past year but doesn't show many signs of being able to take advantage of it. This trip almost a minimum for him these days and in truth, not hard to look elsewhere for the winner.

Two wins in 22 starts, both at this sort of trip, and there is the odd effort over the past year to make you think there's another race in him somewhere. Drop of rain wouldn't harm his chances and he can be given a second look.

Stays very well, as he showed when successful at Bangor over just short of 30f back in April. Came back off a break to run well at Bangor three weeks ago and this is less competitive. Looks one of the main players here.

Useful sort a couple of years ago, has come back off a break to run well enough at Southwell (over hurdles) to think he retains plenty of ability. New yard have landed a few gambles, so advice is to watch the market for support.

Winner at Cartmel in July and after a poor effort there in August, bounced back with a better effort when runner-up at Hexham last week. Conditions fine here and no reason not to go close, despite the advancing years.

On a fair mark if you go back far enough, and shaped encouragingly on final start here in May, possibly finding the trip too far. Has had a break and if fit, not totally discounted, although yard could be in better form.

Has hit the bar a couple of times lately, firstly at Uttoxeter in May and then again at Cartmel two starts ago. Have to go back to early 2017 to find his last win, but has chances if he's on a going day.

Scrambled home at Perth in July but found life harder from his revised mark at Sedgefield last time, finished well beaten. This isn't as tough and he might get an easy lead, so hard to discount totally.

Mark has fallen through the floor after some pretty poor efforts this summer and he appears to be regressing quickly. Well into the veteran stage now and the pipe and slippers surely beckons before much longer.

Call Mev68
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-5| J: S Mulqueen(3)| T: Mrs L B Normile| OR:  75

Yet to hit the frame in 13 starts and the addition of a visor did little to improve things last time. Looks an unlikely winner.

Jackofhearts41
Age: 11|  Weight: 10-0| J: Ross Chapman| T: Mrs J C McGregor| OR:  64
20/1
Going nowhere fast at present and has little chance from 6lb out of the handicap. Needs snookers to get involved.

Forecasts

Packettotherafters (9/2), Lovely Touch (5/1), Pena Dorada (5/1), Spinning Scooter (6/1), Arizona Bound (13/2), Alto Des Mottes (10/1), Call Me (10/1), Samtu (12/1), Dun Faw Good (16/1), Jackofhearts (20/1), Damiens Dilemma (22/1), Brother Scott (50/1)

Verdict

This might not take a lot of winning, and PACKETTOTHERAFTERS looks the one to be with. He'll stay every yard of this and more, and gave the impression another win wasn't far away when third at Bangor last time. He'll strip fitter for that run and can take this. Pena Dorada will enjoy these conditions and the old boy should run his race again, and along with likely leader Spinning Scooter and Lovely Touch, can fight out the places.
