Murrayfield Golf Club Supports Sands Lothians Novices' Hurdle

Off time: 14:06 | Winning time: 5m 10.80s

Carrie Des Champs¹¹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-3| J: R Johnson| T: G Elliott| C| D

1/6

Winner of a bumper on this card last year (her third bumper win) she's since added two novice hurdle wins to her career CV. Far from disgraced under a double penalty over a sharp 2m at Bellewstown; holds obvious claims back up in trip.

Form: 13-1213

Beast Of Belstane²³

Age: 4| Weight: 10-11| J: B S Hughes| T: K Dalgleish

13/2

Off the mark in bumpers at the fourth attempt (first time he has attempted 2m in that sphere) at Sedgefield in January (still looked work in progress). Made an underwhelming hurdles debut after seven months off over 2m here; looked none too keen.

Form: 6461-P

Fyfin Patsy^h1¹²⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 10-5| J: S Mulqueen⁽³⁾| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell

18/1

Hooded for her Rules debut having broken her point-to-point maiden at the sixth attempt in a 3m mares maiden when favourite in May. That looked a weak contest; market may well provide the best guide as to expectations here.

Form: FU42-31

Forecasts

Carrie Des Champs (1/6), Beast Of Belstane (13/2), Fyfin Patsy (18/1)

A weak event to start the card with leading Peth trainer looking to have found an excellent opportunity to improve his own winning tally and that of his mare CARRIE DES CHAMPS who will appreciate a return to this longer trip. She was outpaced over 2m last time and having already taken a bumper around here we know she acts well on the course. Her two rivals both arrive with questions to answer, Beast Of Belstane didn’t impress with his hurdling prowess (or lack of it) last time and Fyfin Patsy makes her Rules debut having taken six starts to get off the mark in point-to-points.
