Horse A-Z
Made a winning start over hurdles in June and then paid late for failing to settle at Ffos Las. Should be open to improvement if the addition of cheekpieces work. Stable won this three years in a row from 2013 to 2015.

Improved on March bumber debut when 8L fourth at Hexham on hurdling debut in May. Extra distance should suit but more needed and likely to make a better chaser in time.

Winner of four races on the Flat and an odds-on second over this C&D on hurdling debut last month. Has conditions to suit again and that form arguably sets the standard. Rates a leading contender with more to come.

Five-time winner on the Flat for Stuart Williams but tailed off when unfancied on hurdling and stable debut at Worcester last month. Hard to fancy based on that run. Stable also runs Global Wonder.
Won a couple of fair AW handicaps when with Gay Kelleway on the Flat at up to 1m2f. Best watched though following two poor efforts over hurdles for new yard.

Dual French Flat winner in 2018 and cost €190,000 on his switch to his current yard. Set stiff tasks in his first two outings and then didn't settle when third at Carlisle in April. More needed but market support would be noteworthy.

Has looked in need of experience in two bumper starts and then on hurdling debut last month. Looks the type to do better with time and big improvement needed to be involved.

Displayed steady improvement in three bumper and two hurdle starts so far. Stayed on well over two miles at Worcester last time and this extra trip should extract further progress. Form is close to the best on offer and a leading hope.

Forecasts

Archimento (7/4), Clever As A Fox (9/4), Pagero (4/1), Twasn't The Plan (5/1), Almazhar Garde (20/1), Parkin (20/1), Derek Duval (40/1), Global Wonder (80/1)

Verdict

Clever As A Fox represents a stable with a strong record in this race and once he learns to settle he's likely to be adding to his one win from two efforts over hurdles. Archimento paid for a couple of late mistakes over this C&D on hurdling debut but it was a promising introduction. TWASN'T THE PLAN has a likeable progressive profile and a breakthrough win shouldn't be far away over an extra trip that should suit.
