Green on debut but gained compensation in good style on his next two starts. Only narrowly denied when upped in trip and class at York last time on handicap debut. 4lb rise but more improvement on the cards.

Won his first two starts at Southwell and highly tried on his two turf efforts since in Listed/Group company. May have more to give up in trip again on handicap debut here.

Well beaten on debut but improved markedly to land a novice event at Wolverhampton on seasonal return and produced an even better run when giving weight away at Ffos Las last time out. Looks sure to stay this trip on handicap debut from a fair mark.

Has improved since being stepped up to this sort of trip and arrives bidding for a four-timer having bolted up in a four-runner event at Chelmsford last time out. 7lb higher here but going the right way at present.

Confirmed the promise of his juvenile campaign with five wins on the spin so far this season. Won with any amount in hand in a four-runner handicap at Chester last time and a 9lb rise may not be enough to stop him again here; ground versatile.

Got his head back in front over this trip at Nottingham (heavy) having gone close at Chelmsford the time before. Should remain competitive from a 4lb higher handicap mark but this is clearly tougher.

Unusually for a son of Champs Elysees, seems to appreciate plenty of give in the ground. Made it two wins from five starts at Hamilton last time out, giving the impression he will appreciate this longer trip and respected from his revised mark here.

Made it three wins for the season when bolting up by 10L at Thirsk in July but has found life a struggle from his revised mark. This is no easier than his recent assignments and others preferred.

Off the mark at the third attempt in a Ripon maiden last time out, sticking to his task well. Not guaranteed to stay this far and handicapper wouldn't appear to have taken any chances with his opening mark.

Gained his first win at the seventh time of asking at Windsor two runs back, despite pulling hard in the early stages. Stayed on gamely when only narrowly denied over the same C&D next time out but 5lb higher and this is tougher; yard do well here.

Improved from novice company to win a fillies' handicap at Goodwood last time out. Given that she won going away that day, there's every chance she will see out this longer trip. Respected in this deeper contest, despite a 5lb rise.

Crying out for a step up in trip on first two starts this year prior to winning twice in testing ground, including a win at this venue (1m2f) in June. Well beaten at Ayr last time from revised mark though. Needs extra ½ mile to eke out improvement.

Forecasts

First In Line (3/1), Moon King (9/2), Laafy (6/1), Calculation (7/1), Trueshan (8/1), Elysian Flame (9/1), Alemagna (9/1), Ranch Hand (14/1), Zoffee (16/1), Jackamundo (22/1), Mondain (40/1), Gabrials Boy (50/1)

Verdict

A tricky looking staying contest opens the card but a chance is taken on TRUESHAN who gives the impression he will relish this longer trip after a comfortable success last time out. Moon King certainly can't be ruled out in his bid for a sixth win on the spin and even a 9lb rise for his wide margin success last time out may not be enough to stop him going in again. First In Line and Elysian Flame are two more each-way players with the latter sure to appreciate the recent rain that has arrived.
