Took this last year (5lb lower mark) and although he hasn't been successful since in six starts, he has run some sound enough races. Second in the Connacht National being his best recent performance; not in the same form over C&D last time.
7lb above his last winning chase mark gained on New Year's Day at Fairyhouse but looks as though he needs an extreme test (one-paced sort). Run with credit of late off his lower hurdles mark; needs this to develop into a real test to have a chance.
Veteran chaser (6-28) who was seen to maximum effect at Roscommon in June to land the Connacht National (Full Cry in second) but hasn't been in the same form since over obstacles. Hard to be confident after recent displays and off this mark.
Things have failed to go to plan after a C&D win over fences last August off a 10lb lower mark (jumped well, went with zest). Below form over fences when last seen here over C&D and failed to inspire over shorter at Tramore last time.
Her two chasing ventures so far have been below the standard that she set over hurdles where she was deemed to be fairly useful (3-17). Now tries handicaps over fences for the first time, would need others to falter to record a success.
Hardly lacks winning form (successful in point-to-points and a bumper/hurdle). Nearly a year since she was victorious under Rules, her chasing form not quite hitting the mark as yet; third over C&D last start, others offer more upside at the prices.
Got the staying trip she needed when successful over C&D in June, staying on well to hold off the challengers (5lb lower mark). Pulled up in her next run she bounced back last time (again over C&D), has work to do with a couple on that run though.
Yet to win under Rules; got back on track when second over C&D last time (gave the impression he should have finished closer); kept on when not clear run at the death. Tow of today's rivals back in third/fourth; looks well handicapped on that basis.
Point-to-point winner (1-3), has also been successful over hurdles (1-4). Yet to strike over fences, pulled up the last two starts in blinkers/tongue-tie headgear combination. Comes in with a porous profile therefore and best left alone.
Maiden hurdler/chaser formerly with Alan King in GB, tumbled in the handicap when with that yard. Hinted at a revival when tried in cheekpieces last time (abandoned here); first start in Ireland in handicaps, market worth keeping an eye on.
Forecasts
Mossy White (9/2), Full Cry (5/1), Aasleagh Dawn (5/1), Kilkishen (6/1), Presentingprincess (7/1), Freewheelin Dylan (8/1), Don't Let Go (10/1), Stylish Moment (10/1), Steelambition (16/1), Cecil Corbett (16/1)
An interesting ad competitive handicap with last year’s winner Full Cry given a good chance of retaining his crown after he beat Freewheelin Dylan (not in the same form) again having been placed in better races than this since. He might just have to give best to MOSSY WHITE though who despite never winning under Rules produced a career-best performance over C&D last time despite getting hampered in the closing stages (he holds Presentingprincess and Don’t Let Go) on that run. If there is a runner out of left field to note then it must be Stylish Moment whose mark has plummeted and now tries handicaps for the first time in Ireland and for the yard.
- Mossy White
- Full Cry
- Stylish Moment
