C&D winner but it is a long while since she won over obstacles although she did spring a surprise when winning on the Flat (penultimate start). Ran with credit last time from the front at Bellewstown over 3m off this same mark.
On a very long losing runs (20 starts to be precise); given his overall record it's not hard to see why having produced a very mixed bag of late. Ran one of his lesser races last time over fences, now reverts to hurdles.
Much improved all of a sudden having taken her last two starts following up a Tramore win over 2m here last time (travelled well, won comfortably). Stays this trip and should go well but has to follow up off a 14lb higher mark.
Back to winning ways on his penultimate start at Sligo (2m4f, good) having won over a shorter trip at the same course earlier in the year. Despite being defeated last time still ran well; goes off the same mark here and much respected.
Course winner whose latest trip came on one of his stables GB forays taking a Perth 2m chase in July (suited by the way the race was run). Not seen over fences since then (three starts over hurdles); not as good in this sphere though.
Fair sort over hurdles with a couple of sound enough starts to his name since coming back from a winter break. Failed to impress over 3m at Sligo last time, may appreciate this shorter trip but does have bounce back from that run.
Produced a career-best at a track (Downpatrick) he goes well at last time over a similar trip to today's but over fences. Unexposed in that sphere but returns to hurdles off the same mark; not certain to make the same impression.
May well have needed the run last time after having three months off, that run being her handicap debut. Didn't settle fully, finished midfield, would need to find something extra on form to be competitive in this contest.
Returns from an absence having been in good form when he was last seen at the end of 2018. Ran three very sound races after winning at Downpatrick around a year ago (that win coming off an 83 day break); market may be informative.
Forecasts
Callthebarman (3/1), Josephina (3/1), Jaime Sommers (4/1), Roxys Holly (6/1), Mon Storm (8/1), Fleurys Fort (12/1), Muroor (14/1), Authorative (20/1), The Mulcare Rover (33/1)
Although she’s off topweight here Jaime Sommers has history in this event having won it in 2017 and having scored on the Flat recently her chance must be respected. JOSEPHINA looks to have incurred the wrath of the handicapper after her two recent wins but she could have hardly won more easily last time and a hat-trick can’t be ruled out. Both Muroor and Callthebarman look better over fences and may lack the verve to take advantage of their hurdling marks. Mon Storm isn’t out of this either despite being defeated last time that form came close to his winning form the time before and he’s a danger.
- Josephina
- Mon Storm
- Muroor
