Scored at both Newcastle and York (1m2f/1m4f) earlier in the season, the latter from just 2lb lower. Dissppointed as Ascot next time, however, and well held at York last time. Acts on soft, but needs to bounce right back.
3-4 at this track, and has shown he handles soft. Can race with the choke out, and tends to lead, but has not seen out his last couple of starts as a result. Needs to be at his best back here.
Picked up where he left off last season with a good effort at Newmarket in the spring. However, seen just once since then, when below par in first-time cheekpieces. Bit to prove back over this trip, but handles soft.
Goes on any ground (has won on soft). Yet to win from a mark this high, but he should be very competitive if he can shrug off a couple of lesser efforts.
Goes well on soft ground and won this race in 2017. Below par in two of his three runs this season, and on a handy mark, so revival not ruled out.
Goes well on slow ground and arrives on the back of a good Newbury win (1m2f, good to soft) three weeks ago. Up 9lb for that, so this will clearly demand more, but no surprise if he progresses to win again.
Acts well on soft and has won twice in handicap company this season. Good effort at Newbury when third again last time. Goes up 2lb for that, but should be competitive.
Listed winner in France last year (1m, soft), but has not yet gone on at three. Cheekpieces back on here and could be better for having had a break, but plenty to prove.
Last win came in April 2018. Not disgraced over 1m2f earlier this season, including on soft, but last two efforts give him a fair bit to prove now.
Forecasts
Qarasu (11/10), Ocala (9/2), Ayutthaya (7/1), Anythingtoday (12/1), Finniston Farm (12/1), Lunar Jet (14/1), Sawwaah (14/1), Hot Team (16/1), Awake My Soul (20/1)
A tricky race, with several of these having the ability to go well but arriving with things to prove. Therefore, it could be a good opportunity for Newbury winner QARASU to defy a 9lb rise and score back-to-back. Ocala is feared in opposition, with Sawwaah and course specialist Finniston Farm others who could stake a claim.
- Qarasu
- Ocala
- Finniston Farm
