Has improved for every run over hurdles putting up his best effort last time out at Tramore when beaten just over two lengths over two miles; seems he may appreciate further but still a leading contender against these rivals.

Unfancied on hurdles debut at Tramore in August but ran well to finish a fair fourth over 2m5f; has some of the best flat form (albeit on the AW) of those on show and can be expected to improve.

Very little form on the flat and only hurdle appearance came in 2016 when finishing last of 16 in a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle; hard to assess though easy to pass over nevertheless.
Slowly learning about the hurdling game and put up his best effort of three last time out at Tramore when if settling and jumping better would have been closer that third place; obvious chance if improving on that.
Always behind on hurdles debut at Bellewstown before being pulled up three flights from home; poor flat form (rated just 46) does not suggest he will be ready to win this contest.

No show in a couple of maiden hurdle before switching, unsuccessfully to bumper in 2017. Two poor runs this summer at Galway and Ballinrobe do little to suggest he would be a leading contender here.

Sent off at big prices in three hurdle starts to date, running accordingly on each occasion. Others look more convincing.

Moderate form in bumper's and hurdles races; has been off the track since December and no reason to see why he should suddenly improve to play a leading role.

Best effort came last time out at Kilbeggan (2m2f on easy ground) where he looked a likely winner turning for home before looking decidedly one-paced. Should run his race but may struggle at the business end.

One of the most experienced in the field and put up one of his better performances on his penultimate start at Sligo over two miles; needs to bounce back from defeat in a handicap last time out but certainly has chances on best of his form.
Hurdles debut for generally disappointing flat performer (0 from 9); was in better form earlier in the year but has struggled on his last three outings including finishing last of 18 latest; no obvious chance unless market speaks in his favour.

Forecasts

Shadow Seven (5/2), Mooltazem (5/2), Nameloc (6/1), Jack Holiday (6/1), Table The Motion (7/1), Rippon Lodge (20/1), Tibetan Gold (20/1), Papal Present (20/1), Pointsevenk (66/1), Mister Saxman (100/1), Boynagh Prince (100/1)

Verdict

MOOLTAZEM looks the obvious choice based on his improving profile. His best effort came last time out at Tramore and a reproduction of that effort will probably be enough to win this contest with few contenders having a real chance. Jack Holiday in another who is improving with each outing and if settling better than last time out (also at Tramore) he may give the selection most to do. Tibetan Gold has plenty of experience and while maybe not up to winning this certainly holds solid each-way claims.
  1. Mooltazem
  2. Jack Holiday
  3. Shadow Seven
