Travelled like a dream when successful at Cartmel last week, could be named the winner a long way out. Tends to save his best for that idiosyncratic track but clear chancreunder penalty if as effective away from there.
Useful chaser at his peak (Grade 3 winner at Kempton last year) but not seen out since disappointing at Perth in April. This trip on the short side too, and all in all, may pay to look elsewhere today.
Has found some form this summer with back-to-back wins at Stratford and Southwell, making all in the latter. Conditions fine but handicapper now asking for more and he will need to up his game. Not discounted.
Useful pointer that has made an excellent start back over Rules fences, easy winner at Worcester in July and then tried his best to give Demi Sang a race at Cartmel last week. Needs more if he's to reverse that form but this track could suit.
Progressive this season until finding it all a bit too much in the Listed Plate at Market Rasen last time out. Back in calmer waters here but might prefer going right-handed and now does need to get back on track. Others preferred.
Winner over 2m at Worcester in July but a laboured effort when only fourth (sent off favourite) at Southwell last time and now upped in trip. Plenty to prove at present and meets some in-form rivals to boot.
Glory days well behind him now but still capable enough when on song and has been running respectably this summer. However, this trip might not be his optimum and he could find the petrol running out late on.
Forecasts
Darcy Ward (9/4), Demi Sang (7/2), Asockastar (9/2), Western Miller (5/1), Lovato (15/2), Dandridge (10/1), Walt (12/1)
Western Miller is likely to give a bold sight from the front as he goes in search of his hat-trick but this might be a step too far, with the handicapper asking for more. Asockastar continues in good form but has a bit to do to reverse for with DEMI SANG on Cartmel form and if the latter can translate that form to a more conventional track, looks the one to beat here.
