Gelded son of Sulamani (first foal); dam unraced, from the family of fairly useful 2m chaser Roofing Spirit and 2m4f-3m1f hurdle/chase winner Silver Streak. Yard 0-8 with bumper runners past five seasons, others look more likely candidates.
Rare bumper runner for the stable; cost a bargain basement £1,000 (ex-Godolphin), by Dubawi he's a half-brother to St Leger winner Encke. Pedigree certainly catches the eye but the fact that he's now six making his debut tells you he's had problems.
Closely related to useful hurdler/fairly useful chaser Fortunate George, fair chaser Fintara, both of whom winners in bumpers (the former on debut). Yard have a 23% strike-rate with bumper newcomers, one of the leading candidates.

Fourth foal; dam maiden hurdler, sister to ungenuine Big Rob and Legal Glory, both stayed 3m (fair hurdler/chasers). Represents a yard with a good record in bumpers (13% strike-rate with debutants); tongue-tie on for debut.

11/8
Irish challenger (3-8 with GB bumpers, last five years; 2-5 with newcomers). Yeats filly closely related to useful hurdler/very smart chaser Peregrine Run (runs in same colours); dam was a bumper winner; makes plenty of appeal on paper.

Forecasts

Jubatus (11/8), Forchena (2/1), Golden Coin (4/1), Inexorable (12/1), Strepitant (14/1)

Verdict

No form at all to go on here as all five make their debuts with no even a scrap of point-to-point form to throw into the mix. There are some appealing backgrounds and pedigrees though with Irish challenger Jubatus hard to ignore given her background and trainer’s GB record. FORCHENA may just deliver a little more in terms of value though and comes from a yard who need to be respected in this sphere especially when taking her breeding into consideration. Golden Coin can’t be ignored with her background either with the betting market sure to tell a significant story that could include Strepitant and Inexorable.
  1. Forchena
  2. Jubatus
  3. Golden Coin
