A change of tactics appear to have brought him alive (much better since making the running; 122). Blinkers worn for all those starts, not disgraced since winning at Ffos Las (2m, good); tongue-tie now added to usual blinkers; sure to go well again.

Fair sort on the Flat (only win came at 1m, AW); still to show anything near that level of form since going hurdling including in handicaps. Possibly failed to stay last time (2m2f) despite shaping better (weak form); more needed to get involved.

Maiden albeit a useful one for Godolphin of the Flat although he did become temperamental. Progress from his hurdling debut hasn't been forthcoming at all and he turned in a dismal effort last time; hopes pinned on going handicapping to progress.

Winner of a point-to-point bumper on debut he's made very little impact under Rules so far. Fared no better last time post a wind op and making his handicap debut (far from fluent with his jumping); hard to see him making an impact.

Flat record (1-45) immediately strikes a note of caution especially as he looked full of quirks on his last outing in that sphere. 0-4 over hurdles he's yet to be seen over timber for this yard with his previous jumping start coming last October.

Freedom Chimes109
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Benjamin Poste| T: Mrs R Gasson| OR:  86

Fair hurdler at best in Ireland but does have a career record that reads 0-23 (Flat/jumps); has been hard to train, had wind surgery prior to his last two starts. Running his best race for some while last time (weakening; fell 2 out); not ruled out.

Returns from a fair absence (dual chase winner over C&D), also back over hurdles but does have a 0-9 record for this yard. Mark would be decent enough to consider him; run a couple of decent races off breaks without winning.

Two solid efforts in defeat for this yard (well found in the market both times) although possibly not living up to expectations. Beaten by a reformed/revived rival last time she still lurks on a very workable mark; should again go close.

Modest sort on the Flat nowadays (raced in Jersey 2017/2018); well beaten in all three starts over hurdles. Didn't jump particularly well last time (raced clear; pulled hard); goes handicapping off a basement mark; others appeal more.

Naasikv13
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-0| J: Philip Armson(7)| T: J R Norton| OR:  72
9/2
Unlucky not to open his account over hurdles ay Uttoxeter in July (saddle slipped; unseated rider, would have gone close). Failed to repeat that form (without the mishap) in two subsequent starts; 2lb out of the weights, old doubts resurface.

Forecasts

Jaxlight (11/10), Naasik (9/2), Patsio (6/1), Lochinver (9/1), Returning Glory (14/1), Stormbay Bomber (16/1), Glendun (18/1), Freedom Chimes (20/1), Princess Kodia (33/1), Optima Petamus (40/1)

Verdict

The ever-improving Patsio has been in very good form since undergoing a change of run style and going from the front and although his mark continues to rise he may well be able to take another step forward with a first-time tongue-tie added to his usual blinkers. JAXLIGHT may just have the edge though having run into a couple of well handicapped types on her last two starts, a repeat of either of those runs ought to see her go one better now. Most of the others have work to do with improving form hard to come by although Freedom Chimes was running a fair race when coming down last time. Stormbay Bomber hasn’t played in this discipline for a while but he has gone well fresh in the past.
  1. Jaxlight
  2. Patsio
  3. Freedom Chimes
