Age: 7|  Weight: 9-7| J: C Lee| T: R Menzies| OR:  66| CD
4/1
Three-time C&D winner (all off higher marks); comes here off a long losing run having plummeted to a career-low but remains hard to win with. Well below form over C&D last time (tried in first-time blinkers); hung badly to left last time.

Age: 7|  Weight: 9-6| J: Phil Dennis| T: N Wilson| OR:  65| D
10/1
Fair sort; best form this year when dropped into a seller (hardly sound form); given a chance by the handicapper returned to this sphere. Better than his form figures would suggest, last two starts; ground/trip will suit, attractively weighted.

Age: 10|  Weight: 9-5| J: Harrison Shaw(3)| T: A Berry| OR:  64| CD
5/1
Well handicapped when winning a C&D apprentice event in June; kept busy since then she ran her best race for some while to score again over 5f at Musselburgh. Sound effort when third (much better grade last time); chance if she maintains consistency.

11/1
Dual 5f winner at Musselburgh last year he's hardly been seen this year with just two early season outings to his name; shaped better than distance beaten when last seen (finished lame). On last winning mark returning from a wind op; monitor market.

Boudica Bay18
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-4| J: G Lee| T: E J Alston| OR:  63| CD
11/4
Delivered on previous promise when landing a C&D handicap off an 11lb mark on her final 2018 start. Picked up the winning thread in May; continued winning curve with two Musselburgh 5f wins in July/August; unsuited by conditions last time.

Red Stripesb9(ex 4)
Age: 7|  Weight: 9-0| J: Gavin Ashton(7)| T: L Williamson| OR:  55| D
7/1
Resumed winning ways to score his third victory of the year and first overall on turf at Goodwood last time (made all). Form wouldn't have been the strongest and the 4lb rise may make life difficult as he bids for his second turf win.

Age: 7|  Weight: 8-13| J: J P Sullivan| T: Mrs R Carr| OR:  58| D
16/1
Dual 5f winner last year (turf/Tapeta) he's only had limited opportunities so far this year but still looks on a good mark. Best to ignore his last start, steadied at start, soon behind, soon in a hopeless position; absence to overcome.

Cuppacoco15
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-10| J: J Fanning| T: Mrs A Duffield| OR:  55| D
10/1
Took advantage of a reduced mark when scoring at Redcar in June (5f, good) having shown promise in her previous start. Four subsequent starts have failed to match that performance including a poor effort over C&D last time; questions to answer.

Funkadelic63
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-7| J: A Mullen| T: B Haslam| OR:  47| D
16/1
No easy task from 5lb out of the handicap returning from a break with no winning form for over two years. Only win came when beating two rivals in a 5f Wolverhampton claimer; would need to return a career-best to take this.

Forecasts

Boudica Bay (11/4), Landing Night (4/1), Economic Crisis (5/1), Red Stripes (7/1), Longroom (10/1), Cuppacoco (10/1), Pavers Pride (11/1), Kibaar (16/1), Funkadelic (16/1)

Verdict

One or two in this that have slipped down the handicap and now reside on good marks not least Landing Night and Longroom /b> who would both be of interest if they could find their old form, the latter is especially attractively weighted. Economic Crisis is going through a good spell at the moment and must be respected and with Red Stripes finally winning on turf at Goodwood last time he can’t be left out of calculations. BOUDICA BAY had her hat-trick bid undone by the ground conditions last time and back on a better surface over a C&D she’s been successful over before she’s taken to regain the winning thread off a mark just 3lb higher than her last win.
  1. Boudica Bay
  2. Economic Crisis
  3. Longroom
