Useful Flat handicapper (78-rated); unbeaten in two starts in handicaps over hurdles; landed the odds with the minimum of fuss at Sedgefield (2m4f, good) last week; shouldn't be troubled by dropping back in trip under a 7lb penalty.
Lacks much in the way of experience over hurdles but is clearly learning quickly; always had the measure of the Oliver Sherwood-trained favourite Archimento in a recent Fontwell novice (2m1½f, good to firm); makes his handicap debut.
Back to form in selling company in recent starts, beaten 5L by the thriving Clearance at Stratford before fending off the challenge of Ballyellis at Market Rasen (2m½f, good); off a fair mark in a more competitive contest.
Perth regular, and a winner of 11 of his 90 career starts; 2lb lower than when finishing third of four (beaten 8¾L) to Nayati in a Class 2 contest at Scone Palace Park latest; theoretically this is an easier option; others preferred.
Came from a difficult position to break the maiden at Musselburgh in March (2m4f, good to soft); on the whole has under-performed since with the exception of a second-placed Flat finish at the same East Lothian venue; unconvincing.
1m6f AW Flat winner for Ralph Beckett (August 2018); has made only limited progress over hurdles since joining this yard for 22,000gns; something to prove heading back into handicap company.
Forecasts
Desert Point (6/4), Prancing Oscar (3/1), Green Zone (7/2), Capitoul (5/1), Frame Rate (16/1), Gripper (16/1)
DESERT POINT landed the odds with the minimum of fuss at Sedgefield last week, and despite dropping back in trip (shouldn't trouble) is fancied to register a quickfire hat-trick for Keith Dalgleish, Straightline Bloodstock and Brian Hughes. However, he does carry a 7lb penalty for that success in a race where the opposition is a shade stronger, so he's likely to have to work harder on this occasion. The inexperienced Prancing Oscar is also turned out swiftly after winning at Fontwell, so a safer option for the forecast could be the Dr Richard Newland-trained seven-year-old Capitoul who has rediscovered a spark in selling races.
