Consistent since winning at Ripon (1m2f, soft) in June until turning in a laboured effort over 1m4f at Thirsk latest; arrives with obvious stamina reservations at 2m, but is certainly more than capable from this kind of mark.

Eight-race maiden; hasn't been overly competitive in five starts this term and steps up in trip after finishing in mid-division behind Near Kettering at Thirsk (1m4f, soft) a fortnight ago; half-brother to a winning hurdler (2m-2m2f).

Didn't show any improvement on handicap debut at Lingfield (1m3½f, soft) last month, and is eased 3lb as a result; first attempt at 2m and does have some stamina in his family line (half-brother to Always Resolute); stablemate of Archie's Sister.

7/1
Nathaniel filly (30,000gns yearling); big prices on all three starts to date and needs to significantly improve upon those efforts in order to get competitive on handicap debut; mildly interesting to see how she handles this longer trip.

Clearly has limited ability but has shown generally consistent form at a low level; short of room late on when fourth at Windsor (1m3f+, good) on debut for this trainer recently (ex-Mick Easterby); sports a first-time hood.

Soundly beaten on all three starts (7f-1m4f); very difficult to fancy on handicap debut, especially over this trip; stablemate of Gordalan.

Autonomy (2/1), Beaufort (9/4), Tabou Beach Boy (9/4), Myklachi (4/1), Nataleena (7/1), Gordalan (15/2), Archie's Sister (25/1)

Verdict

Myklachi missed an intended engagement at Musselburgh on Wednesday (ground) and switches to the Tapeta at Newcastle instead. He's fairly solid overall, but does need to prove his stamina over this trip. Tabou Beach Boy should be winning races sooner or later for Oliver Greenall, and he is of interest in a first-time hood (was actually declared to wear first-time blinkers at Beverley earlier this month; non runner). However, we'll adopt the cautious approach and side with the Sir Mark Prescott-trained AUTONOMY. Like plenty of his stablemates (past and present) he looks nigh guaranteed to take a step forward now sent handicapping over a longer trip.
  1. Autonomy
  2. Tabou Beach Boy
  3. Myklachi
