Poor form in Bumper, hurdles and on belated Flat debut last week and can't be seriously fancied to get off the mark in this.

Well beaten on sole start when trained by Dermot Weld a year ago and changed hands for £4,000 shortly after. Not hard to look elsewhere.

Has tried various trips this season but with similar results and clearly one of stables lesser lights. Curragh second in June was pick of his efforts but something to prove after disappointing fourth last week.

Showed little in pair of maidens this summer for Dermot Weld but interesting that Gavin Cromwell has seen enough to pay 23,000 gns since so may have more to come and market may guide.

Showed little in maidens over 1m and then 1m2f so handicapping after this seems the way forward unless market tells otherwise.

Similar level of form in three runs including when trying this trip last time. The runner up that day has franked the form since and may have more to offer.

More exposed than these but Galway third on penultimate run represents probably the best form on offer and last run can be ignored as he was short of room at vital stage. Clearly one for the short list with blinkers now added.

Good effort when chasing home the smart Sir Dragonet in soft ground maiden in April and may have needed the run when below that form having first run since at Leopardstown recently. Should strip fitter here.

Tailed off when sent off 50/1 on recent belated debut and needs to take a major step forward in a short space of time.

Showed the benefit of debut run when chasing home an easy winner on second start at this trip at Galway. Finished clear of remainder and should have more to come for stable who took this race a year ago.

Forecasts

Red Gerry (15/8), Irradiate (11/4), Rayounpour (4/1), Zarafshan (5/1), Macquarie (8/1), Pepper'n Salt (28/1), Swiss Power (33/1), Bannow Breeze (66/1), Cliff Avenue (66/1), Ramanujan (66/1), Jeyyaad (66/1)

Verdict

Some of these are proving disappointing but there is a fair chance that IRRADIATE hasn't reached the maximum of her ability and she can get off the mark at the third time of asking with Red Gerry possibly the chief threat if the first time blinkers work the oracle. Macquarie doesn't seem to be progressing but may reach the frame again.
  1. Irradiate
  2. Red Gerry
  3. Macquarie
