Scottish National winner back in the day and revived from out of the blue on his initial stable start to take a Cartmel veterans' chase. Ran no sort of race back at the same venue last time (shorter trip), found out in a stronger race; work to do.

Produced his best effort so far when winning over C&D (jumped better than usual) off a 3lb lower mark in May. Given a wind op after that run, produced three creditable efforts since albeit beaten 9L last time; looks competitive again.

Lightly-raced since winning off this mark over hurdles over two years ago his chasing debut at Perth (2m4f. heavy) left him with questions to answer. Failed to see the race out in the conditions last time, hard race may have left a mark.

Ran some reasonable races when with Dan Skelton without winning over hurdles/fences back in 2015-17. Plenty of success in point-to -points (4-13) but has run poorly in two starts under Rules this year; looked moody last time; something to prove.

Verdict

In truth the only one of the quartet to arrive in any sort of form is C&D winner KINGS TEMPTATION who has held his form well since winning here and only finds himself 3lb higher. His 9L defeat last time came at the hands of one who was well handicapped and all his three rivals come with risks attached. Supreme Steel had a hard race last time and didn’t look a natural over fences but he does arrive off a decent mark, this better surface may help. Al Co having won at Cartmel failed to fire there last time and isn’t getting any younger while it’s hoped that Stage One is in a better demeanour this time around having looked far from in love with the game last time.
  1. Kings Temptation
  2. Supreme Steel
  3. Al Co
