A four-time C&D winner who is bidding for a third consecutive C&D success in his latest appearance here. He made all last time to prevail by 3½L. The handicapper has raised him 7lb in the weights, however, he remains a leading contender.
Has been successful twice over this C&D. Her latest victory came here over 7f back in May. Her form recently has been disappointing, including on her latest start where she was last of six at Windsor (6f). Needs to bounce back.
Recorded wins at Bath (5½f) and Windsor (5f) earlier this season. He could only finish eighth of 16 on his latest attempt at Windsor (6f) last month though. Has been dropped 1lb but more is needed off this mark.
Went close to his second win of the season when he finished second of nine at Brighton (6f) last time, beaten by just a neck after staying on strongly. Has gone up just 2lb for that near miss. Worth considering.
Both of his wins on turf in his career have come here over the shorter distance of 5f, including on his latest start. The way he finished his race strongly last time suggests this step up to 6f will suit. One for the shortlist.
Won over this C&D last time in what was his second success of his career so far. He was held up until the closing stages of the race last time before finishing strongly to score by 2¾L. Has gone up 6lb. One to consider to follow up.
Forecasts
Major Valentine (11/4), Gambon (11/4), Bungee Jump (9/2), Dark Shadow (5/1), A Sure Welcome (8/1), Red Alert (8/1)
MAJOR VALENTINE made all over this C&D last time and he can complete a hat-trick of wins here despite his 7lb climb up the weights. The gelding is in great form and is unlikely to be reeled in during the closing stages of this contest. Gambon will be staying on strongly at the finish to try and catch the early pacemakers and he shouldn't be far away as he looks to follow up from his success over this C&D off this 6lb higher mark, while A Sure Welcome is stepping up in trip and is likely to be running on into the placings in the closing stages.
