Took advantage of a much-reduced mark after a break to win at Newton Abbott in July (won with a bit in hand). Failed to build on that run (added to a patchy record) last time in Summer Plate (Market Rasen); hard to catch right these days.

Not the most consistent but was on a going day when scoring from out of the blue at Perth in April revering to fences off a 5lb lower mark. Unsurprisingly not in the same form in two starts since then; offers flatters only to deceive.

Disappointing hurdler for this yard (came with a fair reputation) who has set about redeeming himself over fences. Won his first two starts in this sphere before looking wayward going right-handed at Perth; this track should suit far better.

Seven-year-olds have won every running of this and MAX DO BRAZIL despite being 2lb out of the handicap ought to be much better suited by returning to a left-handed track having proved successful at Fakenham and Uttoxeter off lesser marks. Although he was beaten last time he has fewer questions to answer than the other trio. Steel Wave is more consistent than the other two although the handicapper looks to have his measure now and this trip could test him. At one time Henryville would have been a gift of this mark against this bunch but you are never sure which version will turn up these days and the same could be said of Traditional Dancer who is another one that is hard to catch right.
