Useful Flat handicapper (winner off 72 this year; 1m4f) who was progressive over hurdles last winter; resumed his progress when third at Market Rasen recently (Listed handicap). Ticked over on Flat since then; bright chance.
Always hard to ignore around here (five-time C&D winner), bids for win number six and a C&D hat-trick having won at the last two meetings under today's rider. Completed one C&D hat-trick before in this contest; still looks nicely weighted.
Front-runner (may not get things her own way here) who is 3-4 after wind surgery overcoming a minor blip when bouncing back to form last time. Has won over C&D (14lb lower mark); needs a career-best to take this, can't be ignored though.
Bumper and dual hurdles winner (both at Southwell) who showed she was still improving when fourth in a classy handicap hurdle at Market Rasen last time. Up 3lb for that run this is still competitive despite the slight ease in grade.
Consistent sort (won three handicap hurdles last summer); has continued in good heart this summer off this sort of mark. May get the race run to suit here (best off a strong pace; needs to settle); first run at the track although it should suit.
Useful sort who showed her best recent form when winning at Kelso in January off a 3lb higher mark (travels strongly). Not matched that level of performance in two starts since; comes here off a break against some race-fit types; may need this.
Worcester chase winner earlier in the week having taken time to find his feet since a break he's now returned to hurdles off a 10lb lower mark. Obviously well treated if he can run to the same level over hurdles (dual French hurdles winner).
Took his form up a level when winning at Stratford in June off a 5lb lower mark. Ran respectably on his only subsequent start (up 7lb) over C&D last time (has 9L plus to make up with Beeno); handicapper appears to have a hold now.
Useful on the Flat in the past but has become frustrating over hurdles albeit for the most part doing nothing wrong and running consistently. Plenty of placed efforts around here in novice/maiden company; now in handicap for the first-time here.
One of two runners in the race for this local yard; this former useful sort ended a long losing run at Perth in May under today's rider. Twice a C&D winner blinkers are now reapplied; this looks a tough ask given his recent efforts.
Forecasts
Beeno (4/1), Candy Burg (4/1), Romanor (5/1), Graceland (6/1), Ingleby Hollow (13/2), Lookforarainbow (13/2), Cardigan Bay (8/1), Martila (14/1), Lough Kent (20/1), The Steward (33/1)
One of the highlights of the season at Cartmel with former winner Beeno bidding to record another C&D hat-trick as he bids for his sixth C&D win. Still nicely weighted it might just be the pace pressure he faces from another in-form type Graceland that makes this a difficult task for both. The Bowen team won this last year and have the well handicapped Candy Burg primed for this after his chase win at Worcester earlier in the week while both Ingleby Hollow and Cardigan Bay, third and fourth in the Summer Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen last time can’t be ignored. ROMANOR has been crying out for a strongly run race though and this consistent sort may well at last get his ideal scenario here.
- Romanor
- Ingleby Hollow
- Beeno
