Flemensfirth gelding out of a Milan mare. Brother to bumper/1m4f Flat/2m hurdle winner Kalopsia. Off the the mark on just his second bumper start at Punchestown when last seen in November. Leading player on hurdling debut.
Lightly raced in the last couple of years missing plenty of racing in the process. Well held on a couple of hurdle spins to date and easily opposed here.

Solid and consistent sort, winning two of his last three bumper starts since May. Yard in good shape right now and worth a market check on hurdling debut.
Failed to complete in a couple of hurdle starts. First time cheekpieces unlikely to bring about the required amount of improvement needed to play a role here.

62-rated handicapper on the Flat for trainer George Scott. Promising second hurdle run at Wexford when last seen in March. Place claims.
Basement rated 48 on the Flat was ridden and made no impression three out on hurdle debut at Tramore over 2m earlier this month. Others preferred.

Seven-race maiden over hurdles but was by no means disgraced over 2m at the Galway festival last month. More needed but looks to be going the right way.
Career best effort when finishing third of 18 beaten 7½L in a maiden hurdle over 2m½f at the Galway festival earlier this month. Can be expected to give a good account of himself.

Nothing of note in three starts over hurdles. Needs to show more sparkle before any faith is placed in him.
For-race maiden, generally well held on each occasion so far. Overall record casts doubt on ability to get competitive in this contest.

Proved his debut hurdle run at Cork was no fluke as the Getaway gelding finished runner-up to Boro Tari over 2m in a 14-runner maiden last month. Lively outsider.
Dylan Thomas gelding out of a Namid mare. Cost €17,000 as a three-year-old. Dam won over 5f. Fifth of six well beaten on hurdling debut at Ballinrobe last month. Vast improvement required.

May have found novice company beyond him in a couple of starts recently for new connections following a promising debut at Killarney for trainer Seamus Fahey. Interesting British raider.

Gelding by Mahler out of a Phardante mare. Dam was a 2m winner over hurdles. Possibly a long term prospect and probably best watched following heavy defeat on hurdling debut at Listowel in June.

Nine-race maiden hurdler, not disgraced in a couple of starts when running well in defeat at the Galway festival following a promising spin at Roscommon last month. One for the shortlist.

Nothing of note in a number of Flat starts and on hurdling debut when pulled up at Kilbeggan in May. Does not warrant support based on overall racecourse appearances.

Verdict

BORN BY THE SEA can build on a fine run at the Galway festival earlier this month, when finishing third of 18 on just his second start over timber, by landing the opener. The gelding can get the better of newcomers, Exit Poll and Rocket Lad who both appear to be exciting prospects. Advanced Virgo and Ashqar could be capable of hitting the frame while the Fergal O'Brien-trained, Right Destination could go well at a price.
