Best watched after failing to beat a single rival on debut at Lingfield (7f; good to firm) in what was a modest novice median auction stakes.
Finished last on debut at Newmarket (7f; good), and although he has work to do to reverse the form with Volkan Star, he looked very inexperienced then. Better is expected now, but likely to keep improving with racing.
One of two representatives in this contest for the stable. Never landed a blow on debut at Newmarket (7f; good), and this is a similarly strong contest so major improvement is required.
Last of eight on debut at Leicester (7f; good to soft). Although most from this yard tend to improve markedly from their debut efforts, he is still unlikely to trouble the leading contenders too much.
Looks a slow burner after finishing in midfield on both starts over 7f. Step up in trip should suit on the evidence of his latest run at Kempton (7f; standard to slow) where he plugged on towards the finish. Place claims.
Looks to be more of a handicap project after being well-beaten in a pair of fairly warm maidens over 7f. Watching brief advised.
Almost got his career off to a winning start when runner-up in a Newmarket maiden (7f; good). Lot of market support behind him then (sent off 4-5f), and he is likely to take all the beating with that experience under his belt.
Midfield on debut over 7f at this track in what tends to turn out a good quality maiden. Looked quite a raw filly then, so the step up in trip should suit, and far better is now expected.
Forecasts
Volkan Star (1/3), Hold Fast (4/1), Oslo (4/1), Selsey Sizzler (14/1), Locked N' Loaded (20/1), Great Fengshui (20/1), Debt Of Honour (33/1), Dazzling Darren (50/1)
This looks a one-horse race and a golden opportunity at that for the 1,000,000gns Godolphin representative, VOLKAN STAR, to make amends for his narrow defeat on debut at Newmarket where he looked all over the winner until being nabbed right on the line. They will be playing for places in behind and Oslo looks the most natural option to finish second after suggesting a step up in trip would see him in a better light when finishing in midfield at Kempton recently. Hold Fast is likely to be a different proposition altogether after she ran very green here on debut over 7f in what has always been a decent maiden in years gone by.
- Volkan Star
- Oslo
- Hold Fast
