Dual Fibresand winner at Southwell but record elsewhere less compelling and after pretty dismal efforts here the last twice he's easily passed over despite being 2lb lower than his last winning mark.

Not disgraced off a mark of 73 on his handicap debut at Chester last month and being lightly-raced has scope for improvement. Down a few pounds in the weights and one to consider on course debut.

Returned to form after a couple of below par efforts to win over course and distance last time out. Up 6lbs for that win but certainly going in the right direction. That was a weak race but this is not much better.

Sweating and never involved on handicap debut after a long lay off last month at Sandown. Had shown glimpses of ability on three AW appearances last year and is entitled to improve but not one to get excited about currently.

Ran with credit on her handicap debut at Kempton over a mile earlier this month - finishing well into second place but no chance with winner; down 1lb in the handicap and has a fair chance stepping up in trip.

Did not seem to enjoy the fibresand and step down in trip last time at Southwell having previously scored in good fashion over course and distance in May. Cheekpieces applied for the first time; long absence not ideal but should run his race.

Expensive purchase as a yearling but has yet to justify her price tag from three starts; makes handicap debut after running at Newmarket earlier this month after a long absence; entitled to improve but will need to to score here.

Produced a noticeable step forward in her form since being introduced to handicaps over 1m; more now expected she is given this increased test which is likely to suit even better. Left on the same mark as last time (fair AW third); leading candidate

Still a maiden but was pretty consistent earlier this year in handicaps with four consecutive third place finishes. Bit to do on the ratings here but capable of making the frame.

Forecasts

Junior Rip (15/8), Social Network (4/1), Corinthian Girl (5/1), The Dancing Poet (8/1), Better Than Ever (8/1), Spirit Of Angel (10/1), Canasta (12/1), Love Your Work (16/1), Dreamboat Dave (16/1)

Verdict

CANASTA should appreciate this step up in trip and allow her to get off the mark at the sixth time of asking after seemingly improving slowly for each run. The filly ran a fair race in defeat last time at Wolverhampton in July and her trainer looks to have found a nice opportunity for her to get off the mark. Corinthian Girl is another who will enjoy this slightly stiffer test of stamina and there was much to like about her effort last time at Kempton despite a slow start. Junior Rip is entitled to be in the reckoning following his course and distance win last time out. He has a rise in the weights to contend with and the suspicion that the form of that victory was not too strong.
  1. Canasta
  2. Corinthian Girl
  3. Dreamboat Dave
