Mistakes put paid to his chances last time out over course and distance; had previously shown bits and pieces of form notably at Roscommon in July; fair chance if sorting out his hurdling.
Two fourth place finishes in his last two runs suggest a level of consistency and ability to suggest he is up to winning a race soon; application of blinkers for the first time may be the sharpener he needs; respected at this level.

Will have disappointed leading connections with a series of dismal efforts over hurdles since making his debut in December. First time cheekpieces didn't help last time; chances and excuses running out.
Has failed to build on a promising hurdling debut at Ballinrobe in July at Galway and back at his debut venue last week. Hard to make a case for until he starts to show more consistent form.

Well beaten and never a factor on all his start to date; slowly getting more experience but not hard to oppose.
Failed to win in six point-to-points and has failed to be competitive in four bumper starts to date. Easy to overlook.
Bought for £75,000 after winning a Loughrea point-to-point in August. Four maiden hurdle starts did not go to plan with the gelding finishing well down the field on each start. Not one to place a great deal of faith in at the moment.
Hurdling debut; has been brought along slowly and showed signs of ability last time out at Galway; probably not up to winning on his first sight of hurdles but market worth a check.
Well beaten on all his racecourse appearances and would take a huge leap of faith to believe he is capable of springing a surprise here.

Has shown very limited ability on all his hurdle starts and it is difficult to see where the improvement will come from to see him get competitive even at this lowly level.

Best finish was when beaten 43L in a bumper at Punchestown; best hurdles finish was when beaten 52L at Cork; no real chance.

Forecasts

Unexpected Depth (4/5), Dark Decade (7/2), Valley Breeze (6/1), Bunninadden (12/1), Hewick (16/1), Rock On Aussie (20/1), Askthebossman (25/1), Little Saint (33/1), Tico Times (50/1), Killdevil George (50/1), Baronial Hall (66/1)

Verdict

Hard to make a coherent case for most of this field with a slight preference given to BUNNINADDEN who is one of the few to show some degree of ability on a racecourse exemplified by his two fourth place finishes in his latest two runs. He would not have to improve too much to land this contest. Askthebossman would have finished closer at this track over 3m last time out if he had jumped better. If this is sorted out then he has ability and certainly capable of winning this type of race. While hardly being a racehorse to place too much faith in at present Unexpected Depth did run with a little more promise last time out and would not have to improve too much again to earn some prize money.
  1. Bunninadden
  2. Askthebossman
  3. Unexpected Depth
