Missed out narrowly off 1lb lower mark at Newton Abot penultimate start, and bad error 2 out cost him his chance at Ffos Las latest. Plenty of weight but is no forlorn hope.
Knocking on the door over hurdles and fences this season prior to unseating rider early on at Southwell last time. Surprisingly, fine yard has only modest 7% strike rate here overt fences.
Landed 2m3f handicap hurdle here last year but looked a shadow of his former self when pulled up last time at Newton Abbot on first start back following wind surgery. Has plenty of questions to answer now.
Stays well but ideally suited by plenty of give in the ground so any rain would aid his prospects. Kept on one pace when fifth at Worcester last month off 1lb higher mark and has first time tongue-tie and cheekpieces applied this time.
Won at Stratford and Uttoxeter this spring for Jeremy Scott but weakened from 3 out over 3m2f on debut for current yard at Uttoxeter last time. 2lb lower now but may just be in handicapper's grip.
Veteran staying chaser who is not the force of old but ran creditably last time off lowest ever handicap mark when second at Market Rasen. Runs off same mark with champion on board again and has to be considered.
Hasn't won beyond 2m3f and is not certain to see it out over this trip. Ran poorly on first run for this yard following long break when last of 12 over hurdles recently and is difficult to fancy.
Won this race two years ago off 10lb lower mark, and made it 2-2 here when winning 3m5f h'cap chase in April off 5lb lwoer mark. Absent since and returns from wind surgery but has to be respected at this venue.
Forecasts
Delgany Demon (5/2), Packettotherafters (10/3), Atomic Rumble (4/1), Silver Man (5/1), Marble Moon (7/1), Ofcourseiwill (9/1), Day Of Roses (20/1), Mr Satco (28/1)
In the hope his wind surgery has been successful, the 2017 winner PACKETTOTHERAFTERS is suggested having a perfect 2-2 record at this track. Marble Moon lost all chance with a late mistake last time but had previously shaped well so is worthy of consideration, along with veteran Silver Man who may make a bold bid to exploit a career low mark. Delgany Demon would have a proper chance if it rains, but otherwise a place might be the best he can hope for, while Atomic Rumble might bounce back from his early departure last time.
- Packettotherafters
- Marble Moon
- Silver Man
