Top-weight whose current mark looks beyond him on recent evidence, and he didn't offer much encouragement when 10th of 15 at Bellewstown (2m; good) last month. Yard in the doldrums at present also. Opposable.
Running over fences of late, without making too much noise in that sphere. This is his first run over hurdles since he was well-beaten in a handicap at Thurles (2m; good) in December. Others make more appeal.
Outran 66-1 odds when sixth at Galway (2m; good). That was a clear best since he made his return to the track in April, and he could be a dark horse if able to build on that first hurdles run since September 2017.
The in-form contender who continued his excellent time of things when staying on to win by a neck at Ballinrobe (2m1f; yielding) on Monday. Turned out quickly, but is difficult to oppose in his current vein of form.
Good effort in defeat when runner-up at Killarney (2m1f; good) in July, but unable to match that form when ninth of 13 at Cork (2m; yielding) recently. Too risky a proposition to recommend at present.
Not beaten far into fourth at Ballinrobe (2m5f; yielding) on Monday, and ran creditably in defeat at Galway (2m5f; good) the time before that. Compiling a fairly consistent record in recent months, and could reward that off a competitive mark.
Looked promising when successful over hurdles at the second time of asking in June. Two lesser efforts since then over hurdles/on the flat. Must bounce back, but could find some improvement on handicap debut.
Sent off at 33-1 in a competitive race at Galway (2m; good) recently. Finished in midfield but wasn't disgraced on what was his hurdles return. Not in great form on the flat before that, but this is easier so he shouldn't be completely ruled out.
Last career victory under this code was achieved over this C&D in August 2017. Been mixing it on the flat and over hurdles of late and hard to fault her latest effort when not beaten far into fourth at Cork (2m; yielding). Place claims.
Not one to rely on. Put disappointing latest effort over hurdles behind him with a pair of solid runs in handicaps. However, couldn't maintain good run of form on the level when 13th of 18 at Fairyhouse (1m4f; good) recently. Bit to prove.
Forecasts
Zoffalee (5/2), St Lawrence Gap (9/2), Touch Of Gold (5/1), Bridge Native (6/1), Lady In Lavender (8/1), Penny Out (8/1), Orgilgo Bay (12/1), Arcenfete (16/1), Noble Intention (20/1), Mr Picotee (20/1)
In a race where most of the field are out of form, that statement cannot be applied to ZOFFALEE who continued his excellent run of form when showing a willing attitude to be victorious at Ballinrobe last time, where he and the runner-up drew five-lengths clear of the third. He is on a roll now, and should be able to follow up. Bridge Native doesn't win very often, but has ran consistently well in recent starts and looks set to play another supporting role, while Penny Out is not one to write off just yet. This five-year-old mare is still lightly raced and should be afforded another chance after she looked to be going in the right direction prior to disappointing at Ballinrobe.
- Zoffalee
- Bridge Native
- Penny Out
