Put a poor run at Sandown in late July behind him when running up to his best at Bath earlier this month. Course and distance winner on an easy surface and every chance on best of his form.

Over a year since his last win but has been showing better form of late at Bath, Sandown and Lingfield. Suspicion is he may struggle off his current handicap mark but not without a chance.

Experienced and consistent sprinter who tends to reserve his best for Bath but has decent form over this course and distance. Will certainly give it his best shot but may be currently in the handicapper's grip.

Put in a career best performance to win at Haydock over this trip last week. This came after being hopelessly outclassed at Goodwood the time before. Happy on any ground and in good form he could be the one they have to beat despite penalty.

Twice won over 6f at Yarmouth last year, including a handicap off 82, but has beaten precious little home in five runs this year for new trainer. Big bounce-back demanded.

Won over course and distance around this time last year and only narrowly failed to last out when caught close home at Bath at the start of the month. Probably needs a bit further than this these days and not done any favours by the handicapper.

Forecasts

Somewhere Secret (6/4), A Sure Welcome (11/4), Union Rose (3/1), Spot Lite (6/1), Jaganory (7/1), Secretfact (11/1), Autumn Splendour (25/1)

Verdict

The five-year-old SOMEWHERE SECRET is in the form of his career at present and is taken to defy a penalty. He was most impressive when winning recently at Haydock and this represents an easier challenge. All ground comes the same to him. Spot Lite has been running some encouraging races this season and a repeat of his recent effort at Ffos Las should see him run a decent race. Any softening of the ground will not see him less competitive. A Sure Welcome has plenty of weight to carry but has shown enough form this season to be considered a genuine contender.
  1. Somewhere Secret
  2. A Sure Welcome
  3. Spot Lite
