Course winner in the past but has been well held in three starts this season. recent 7L last in Ascot handicap (7f) leaves a bit to be desired and this requires improvement off top weight.
Winless run goes on for over a year now and had been in reliably good form this season before 11L fourth in 7f Lingfield handicap last time out. Needs to forget that effort but is now back on a winning mark. Claims.
Made a respectable start for this stable at Newbury in June but has been well held in two starts since including 5L ninth in 7f Kempton handicap latest. Another one that needs to bounce back.
First-time cheekpieces didn't irk out desired improvement when 11L third in Lingfield handicap (7f, good to firm) last time out. Finished 1L in front of Grey Galleon that day but his rival is on a better mark.
Gelding operation and wind surgery seemed to work when 4L third in novice contest over 6f here on seasonal reappearance. Given a workable mark for handicap debut and looks tailor made for this company.
Slow start often costs his chances but refound some of his old form last time out when third of five in 7f Ffos Las handicap just under two weeks ago. Merits respect on that form.
Now a veteran who runs consistently without troubling the judge recently. Recent 6L sixth at Chepstow (6f) suggests slightly more is required to be competitive.
Generally running with credit this season and produced a career-best to land 1m Sandown handicap on latest start. Only raised 2lb for that success and drop back in trip should be no issue. Leading claims.
Has failed to show any signs of form this season and didn't show any turnaround when 8L seventh in Sandown handicap (7f, good to firm) in July. Others make more appeal.
Failed to score since August 2017 and looked flattered with recent second in 7f Lingfield handicap. Other rivals from that race are likely to turn the form around.
Forecasts
Tell William (4/1), Stay Forever (9/2), John Betjeman (5/1), Arctic Flower (7/1), Grey Galleon (7/1), Keeper's Choice (8/1), Air Of York (10/1), Another Boy (12/1), Bbob Alula (14/1), Kinglami (20/1)
A race in which a few horses are closely tied into by form, GREY GALLEON who may be able to bounce back from his latest effort (the ground went against him that day) and is dangerously poised by the handicapper on his current mark. Stay Forever brings winning form to the table but only managed to get up last time in what looked a weak race, while Air Of York typically runs a good race when he breaks cleanly from the stalls. Preference is for TELL WILLIAM who has been given a chance on ratings on his handicap debut for a trainer who is in flying form.
- Tell William
- Air Of York
- Grey Galleon
