Six-time winner revels in soft ground as shown when winning in April at Newbury. Lone run since a Listed fourth on heavy ground and this classy sort is highly respected here with favoured conditions likely.

Win in this race on good to soft last year one of four 2018 successes. Shade disappointing latest but finished ahead of Stake Acclaim when third in a Haydock Listed race earlier and now had a wind-op so potential for a bounce back.

Won a heavy ground 5f contest at Musselburgh first time out last year and found lame when disappointing next at the Curragh. Below par in lone race this year but that on AW in April so could finally show best form again now.

Started the season well with two good performances over five furlongs on easy ground at Musselburgh and Beverley. Needs to bounce back from below par run last time at York but up against it with top three all rated 18lb plus higher.

Having a fine season winning three times including over C&D in May. Will enjoy underfoot conditions but rated some 22lb below Stake Acclaim so faces a huge task today.

Verdict

The safest bet here looks to be STAKE ACCLAIM who has run two very solid races in as many starts in 2019 with his quiet campaign probably geared towards the autumn when his favoured soft ground will likely be more prevalent. Last year's winner Tarboosh would have very solid claims if it weren't for his last subdued performance but perhaps subsequent wind surgery can help him bounce back. Kyllang Rock is clearly fragile but has often suggested himself a borderline Group performer in the past.
