Only previous visit here resulted in a win over this trip in testing conditions, now faces an identical scenario off 3lb higher. Had a tough race on that occasion and York race next time may have come to soon (has had issues); bounce back possible.
Capable of some useful handicap form but never looks an easy ride; showed that side of his character last time despite winning over 1m4f at Thirsk in soft ground. 5lb higher here he's not the most obvious candidate to follow up; quirky sort.
Back to something like his best on his second run for this yard when landing a York 1m4f apprentice handicap (ran well the time before) off a 5lb lower mark. Not in the same form since though despite having excuses (trip) for one of those defeats.
Only one previous outing on the Flat (AW) for this yard (stable debut) having been running since over hurdles (shown some fair form in that sphere). Not badly weighted on some of her French Flat form, may be worth noting a market move.
Bounced back to form on soft ground over C&D (3yo handicap) last time when looking suited by the test of stamina that was provided; nudged up 2lb for that effort. Form well franked (four subsequent winners); now takes on elders for the first time.
Returned some respectable placed efforts of late but does come into this on the back of a long losing spell. Her penultimate start is proving good form (three next time out winners); sound effort last time but more needed in a competitive heat.

Forecasts
Beechwood Jude (2/1), Flood Defence (10/3), Roar (10/3), Edgar Allan Poe (6/1), Auxiliary (13/2), Trinity Star (13/2), Lady Kyria (40/1)
An intriguing finale to the card with the two C&D winners being of interest. The youngest of that pair BEECHWOOD JUDE is the sole 3yo in the field who takes on his elders for the first time having justified favouritism here on soft ground last time proving his stamina in a race that has proved sound form. He just shades the selection over Roar who only beat one home last time but is better judged on his win here the time before. Both Trinity Star and Auxiliary add some depth to the race although the former isn’t the most consistent and the latter has some question marks against him. Lady Kyria, a fair hurdler looks interesting as a wild card in the race having won on the Flat in France.
- Beechwood Jude
