Ran well on latest start in a Wexford beginners chase last month but was well beaten on sole hurdle start at Cork in May when tailed off 86L over 3m. Market likely to be the best guide.

Disappointing on last start at Punchestown in June but posted a career best in a Wexford maiden hurdle over 2m4f in May finishing second of 11 beaten 3L. Repeat of that effort would have the Scorpion gelding in the hunt for further prize money.

Gelding by Scorpion out of a Be My Native mare. Half-brother to Might Bite. Improved from first to second run at Naas when last seen in November. May be a tall order following a break.

16/1
Five-race maiden hurdler who is yet to hit the frame on any occasion so far. Generally well down the field on a number of starts since June and has probably something to find in this contest.
Gelding by Fair Mix out of a Classic Cliche mare. Dam placed in bumpers, half-sister to 2m6f hurdle winner, Seminole Chief, bumper/2m3f - 2m6f hurdle/chase victor, Gunnerblong. More needed from one pace debut run at Sligo last month.
Thousand Words gelding. Fell when making his debut in a point-to-point on yielding ground in December before a laboured bumper effort on debut at this venue when last seen in April. Others hold stronger profiles.

Failed to complete in a couple of point-to-point efforts in the spring before tailing off on debut in a Roscommon maiden hurdle last month. Looks a tall order following first start.

Gelding by Bonbon Rose out of a Urgent Request mare. Cost €800 as a three-year-old. Beaten over 30L on each of his first two career starts to date over hurdles and in a Killarney bumper when last seen in May.

Le Hachette24
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-1| J: Darragh O'Keeffe(5)| T: J P Ryan| OR:  80
9/2
12-race maiden hurdler who appears more suited to the point-to-point ranks. Possibly best watched on her second start in seven months unless the market has other ideas.

Forecasts

Big Tree (7/4), Good Luck Hope (3/1), Le Hachette (9/2), Hesamanofhisword (5/1), Woodbrook Boy (8/1), Tapenade (16/1), They All Fell Out (25/1), Onenightintown (66/1), Baronial Hall (66/1)

Verdict

It could be said BIG TREE ran in to a couple at Punchestown in June but the form of his second of 11 at Wexford in a maiden hurdle has produced the Paul Nolan-trained, Shawshank to win since. The Scorpion gelding can win over hurdles at the fifth time of asking with Good Luck Hope and Woodbrook Boy looking to improve on their most recent starts. The J P Ryan-trained Le Hachette should not be easily discounted.
  1. Big Tree
  2. Good Luck Hope
  3. Woodbrook Boy
