6f course winner (good to firm) last season. Not disgraced in Listed company next time (7f), before winning again under a penalty at York (6f, soft) when last seen. Drops 2lb for this handicap debut. Unexposed and has claims on his reappearance.
6f winner here in maiden company (good to soft) last September. Beaten favourite on heavy over C&D in June, before dead-heating on good to soft at Sandown last time (front clear). 4lb rise looks fair. Big player if conditions get slower.
Mudlark who sprang a 20-1 surprise and beat favourite Wise Counsel in the process over C&D (heavy) in June. 4lb higher here, and his two runs since have both been less encouraging. Bit to prove, but a player if there is a deluge.
Has scored over both 6f and 7f on good to soft. Went close at Epsom (good) on his penultimate start, when 2lb lower. Was unlikely to win back there last time before having traffic issues, but not fully exposed or ruled out here.
Triple winner on good or fast ground, from 5f-6½f, last year. Badly out of sorts in both runs this term, however. Well treated now, but has to prove he can take advantage.
Won a Doncaster maiden (good to soft) over this trip last October. Has run some good races in defeat this season, over 7f-1m. Acts on fast ground, and is on a very competitive mark, but needs to be much better than his last two efforts.
Won on good to soft (5f) at Goodwood in novice company last year, when with Amy Murphy, and added to that for this trainer at Newcastle (6f, AW) in June, when 9lb lower. Went very close at York (7f, soft) last time. Up 4lb, but a player.
Soft ground Carlisle winner (6f) on debut last September. Yet to eclipse that effort in three handicaps this season. May be able to step back in right direction on second start after wind surgery, but has that to prove.

Forecasts
Wise Counsel (3/1), Jonah Jones (4/1), Kapono (5/1), Finoah (11/2), Reeves (6/1), Sir Busker (7/1), Gabrial The Wire (8/1), Praxidice (12/1), The Great Heir (20/1)
With rain forecast before the scheduled 'off', it looks worth siding with WISE COUNSEL. Although he probably doesn't want it bottomless, as shown by his defeat to Finoah here earlier in the season, some ease would suit. Clive Cox's colt is on an upward curve and can defy a 4lb rise. Also unexposed is Jonah Jones, who could be a big danger, while Kapono and Sir Busker are others who can't be ruled out.
- Wise Counsel
- Jonah Jones
- Sir Busker
