Usually enjoys the sea air having performed well at Brighton before now (last win there off a 7lb lower mark). Generally performed well since that victory although his good run of form came to an end last time; still entitled to respect.

Handicap newcomer having had just the three requisite runs to qualify for a mark; looks to have been brought along with this sphere in mind. Closely related to some useful types; bred to better than she's shown so far; one to watch for in the market.

5f winner earlier in the year on the AW off this mark despite not looking a natural at that trip; has run over further on all her starts since. Way below-par on her last two starts (turf/AW over 6f/7f); resurgence required to play a part.

Showed much improved form when scoring over C&D last time (showed a good attitude) and nudged up 2lb for that victory. Rewarded for that win by being equipped with blinkers (first-time); headgear may inspire some further progress.

Hood goes on for the first-time in a bid to inspire after the first-time blinkers failed to work the oracle last time on her handicap debut. Now back on turf after two AW runs she drops 2lb from that initial effort; still needs to show more.

Has a multitude of fairly modest efforts to his name having landed a couple of AW 6f victories earlier in the year off lower marks than he faces here. Faced a stiff task last time (didn't convince with his attitude); may run into a place.

The other handicap debutant in the field who wears cheekpieces for the first-time but has so far looked of little account. May have more chance off a basement mark going handicapping; hard to form a cogent case on current evidence.

Made her handicap debut over C&D last time in the race that Rita's Folly/Secret Treaties finished 1-2; took a strong hold, only beat one home. Visor now employed first-time but work to do on what she's shown so far.

Forecasts

Your Mothers' Eyes (7/4), Secret Treaties (3/1), Rita's Folly (7/2), Ecstasea (5/1), Impressionable (7/1), Penarth Pier (7/1), Deconso (8/1), Dutch Story (11/1), Sepahi (20/1), Mallons Spirit (25/1)

Verdict

The obvious starting point in this three-year-old handicap is the race in which Rita’s Folly defeated Secret Treaties over C&D last time with the pair once again closely matched at the weights although neither is guaranteed to progress further. The most interesting contender is ECSTASEA with trainer Rae Guest having a 20% strike-rate with fillies on their handicap debut since 1997 and it won’t be a surprise to see her take a major step forward now that she goes handicapping. Your Mothers’ Eyes is entitled to respect on her previous outings some in better company with Penarth Pier worth a cursory glance.
  1. Ecstasea
  2. Rita's Folly
