Historically is strongest on the AW, but kept decent enough form on turf last summer winning over 1m at Carlisle (good to soft); 7lb higher and below par at Newcastle lately.
Delightfully consistent throughout the course of 2019 (121122); stays beyond 1m, handles most conditions and is only 1lb higher than when beaten a neck by Rosemay at Ayr (1m, good to soft) a fortnight ago; obvious chance.
Without a win since May 2018 (1m, Ayr); has found the frame on a couple of occasions this season and is handicapped to win again sooner or later but equally he's had plenty of similar chances.
15-race maiden; was beaten just ½L by Zodiakos at Haydock (1m, heavy) in June and now competes from a 1lb lower mark; bitterly disappointing on the AW at Wolverhampton latest.
Has seen precious little competitive action over the past six to nine months; weakened after racing prominently at Newcastle (1m) in June; others preferred at this stage.
3lb higher than when winning by a head at Hamilton (1m1f, good to firm) in May 2018; off the track thereafter until returning to action at Newcastle (1m) ten days ago; well-being taken on trust.
Sole win came on debut at Ayr (6f, good) in June 2017; back to form with a narrow defeat at Hamilton (1m+, good) latest, so connections were no doubt left frustrated by the abandonment of racing there on Saturday evening (was declared to race).
Theoretically could be competitive from a much reduced mark, but he's had ample chances to put his best foot forward of late and has failed to do so; difficult to enthuse over.
Won over C&D (good) from a 16lb higher mark in 2017; clear signs of a return to form in recent weeks - a never nearer third to Red Seeker at Beverley (7½f, good to firm) latest; player if handling the softer ground.
On a losing run since doubling up in August 2017, although admittedly missed the vast majority of 2018; has been competing over 1m2f-1m4f so far in 2019, with a best effort coming when a ½L second to Zihaam at Beverley in June.
Without a 'win' since being awarded a Catterick maiden in May 2013 (then with Tim Easterby); her best recent form has come with ample cut underfoot; possible place angle at a price.
23-race turf maiden; is most effective between 7f and 1m on Tapeta at Newcastle; will almost certainly win more races when returning to Gosforth Park next winter; not today.
Enjoyed a profitable summer in 2017 at Hamilton Park (for Keith Dalgleish) winning on three occasions (1m-1m1f); is very well treated off this mark but has badly misfired since joining Stef Keniry; capable yet very risky; watch and monitor only.
12-race maiden; 80/1 when finishing last of 14 over C&D in July (good to firm); look elsewhere confidently.
15-race maiden; hasn't really threatened to shed that status on turf so far in 2019 (0-4) and looks to be up against it here from stall number 18.
13-race maiden; dropped noticeably back in trip when finishing just under 6L third of five to Greeley in a gentleman amateur riders' contest at Salisbury (1m) latest; blinkers now applied.

Betty Grable (3/1), French Flyer (9/2), Rosy Ryan (8/1), Rebel State (9/1), Bigbadboy (10/1), Snooker Jim (11/1), Tom's Anna (12/1), Monsieur Jimmy (12/1), Sea Shack (12/1), Lukoutoldmakezebak (16/1), Troop (20/1), Jessinamillion (20/1), Amity Island (20/1), Adventureman (25/1), Amy Blair (25/1), Wynfaul The Wizard (33/1), Barney Bullet (33/1), Magic Ship (50/1)
A massive field in which the draw will play a significant part with low numbers expected to be favoured with cut underfoot. The wonderfully consistent Betty Grable (7) holds an obvious chance after yet another solid effort at Ayr latest, although the market will almost certainly reflect that fact. Rosy Ryan (10) would have been more interesting on a sounder surface while both Bigbadboy (11) and Tom's Anna (2) are place possibles at rewarding odds. However, in an open race we'll chance FRENCH FLYER (5) who has been re-routed to Ripon following the abandonment of racing at Hamilton Park on Saturday evening.
- French Flyer
- Betty Grable
- Bigbadboy
