Won bumper and two novice hurdles last term but has run badly in both handicaps so far being pulled up on each occasion. Eased 3lb and steps up a mile from last effort but has questions to answer at present.

Won a bumper at Uttoxeter in 2017 for Warren Greatrex but disappointed in all three starts for him over hurdles. Has done better since joining current yard and won minor event over C&D last time. This is tougher but arrives in good heart.

2-19 over hurdles, most recent success coming over 2m4f at Wincanton in May off 1lb lower mark. Unseated rider at first in handicap chase last time and has looked doubtful stayer at this trip in the past. Has something to prove.

Last win came over fences in May 2018 off 7lb higher mark but has been woefully out of form last four starts and looks a risky proposition on current form back over hurdles.

Won over this trip at Bangor in June off 6lb lower prior to failing to quicken and eventually fading into sixth at Stratford last time off this mark. May be in handicapper's grip but yard continue in good form.

Stays well and wouldn't be inconvenienced by any easing of the ground. Popped up at 25/1 at Southwell last time on second start for yard, running on well to score by a head. Raised 4lb but has fair claims if in same mood.

19-race maiden but has gone close a couple of times this year, most recently when beaten just a neck over 2m4f at Uttoxeter in June. Fair fourth last time at Ffos Las but has stamina questions to answer now trying new trip.

Won twice for Philip Hobbs last winter and makes debut now for new yard. Ran out of gas on last hurdles start at Catterick in January over 3m1f and questionable that this trip plays to his strengths. Worth monitoring for market confidence though.

No stamina doubts having won two long distance handicap hurdles last winter, the latter being at Catterick off a 1lb higher mark. Hasn't shone in recent outings but is back to a winnable mark and has place claims at least.

Beaten just half a length at Worcester off 1lb lower mark in June but ran poorly at Uttoxeter last time and needs to bounce back. Good yard does well here though with fine 22% winning strike rate.

Only win from 29 attempts came at Perth last July in 3m h'cap hurdle off 4lb higher mark. Hasn't been threatening to repeat that feat in recent starts and others are preferred.

Given a good ride by champion jockey to land first and only success on penultimate start in modest event at Fakenham in June off 7lb lower mark. Creditable effort latest under conditional rider and has decent claims.

Forecast

West To Crossgales (3/1), Article Fifty (7/2), Hattaab (9/2), Get An Oscar (6/1), Nemean Lion (11/1), Percy Street (12/1), Midnight Request (14/1), Handy Hollow (16/1), Lord Condi (20/1), Come On Charlie (25/1), Christmas Twenty (25/1), Lord Ballim (28/1)

Verdict

MIDNIGHT REQUEST should go well in his bid to follow up his recent surprise success at Southwell and gets the vote in a tightly knit handicap. Article Fifty will prove a popular and topical choice after some solid efforts of late, and bottom weight West To Crossgales can't be left out of the reckoning having won last time the champion partnered him. Nemean Lion has dropped back to a feasible mark and may run better than his form figures suggest, and Get An Oscar is another worth considering at a track where her handler does well.
  1. Midnight Request
  2. Nemean Lion
  3. West To Crossgales
