Bolted up on second start at Hamilton and attempted to make when not beaten far in 11th in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot (6f, good) before weakening close home over 5f at Sandown. Interesting contender now back down in grade.
Twice second before limiations exposed in Listed Chesham over 7f at Royal Ascot. Improved for step back in trip last time at Newbury. Has scope to improve over this trip.
Improved on debut effort at Carlisle when not beaten far last time out at York. Needs to improve to get competitive but no reason why he can't progress.
Yard not especially noted for turning out two-year-old winners and looks to be bred to enjoy racing over a longer trip. Market will provide clues.
Beaten a long way down the field on both of her two starts at Carlisle so far, including latest over the minimum trip when she was sixth of nine. Needs to improve a lot just to be in the mix here.
First foal; Showcasing filly who cost 50,000 Guineas as a yearling. Reasonably well bred being related to some decent milers. Looks the best of the unraced horses in the contest.
Trainer has handled most of this filly's relatives so will know what he is getting to a certain extent. Stable does not do particularly well with juveniles so easily passed over.
Forecasts
Makyon (11/8), Clay Regazzoni (13/8), Solemn Pledge (9/2), Kilham (16/1), Pearl Stream (33/1), Summer Heights (100/1), Garnock Valley (150/1)
The race may revolve around MAKYON being able to keep a lead. He had led until the closing stages on his last two starts (including in the Coventry at Royal Ascot). This drop in class may be the thing to get him back to winning ways. Another Royal Ascot runner Clay Regazzoni will be looking to take advantage of his weight advantage and finally get off the mark himself. This slight step up in trip should suit and could give the selection most to do. Kilham is slowly getting the hang of racing and is entitled to improve while Solemn Pledge looks the best of the unraced fillies.
