Won a Plumpton handicap chase for David Dennis in 2017 but has had a chequered career since then. Failed to complete in all bar one of his six starts under rules since that win; two modest point-to-point efforts since then; returns for a new yard.

Only recently returned to race under Rules having gone 3-11 in point-to-points (has won a maiden hunter chase). Recent fourth (second start for this yard) showed a little more promise; chance but would appeal more on a stiffer circuit.

Cheekpieces return after he finished down the field last time here over hurdles at this trip. Better judged on his previous run at Ffos Las (2m4f) when he was second off a 1lb lower mark; not the most consistent but not ruled out at this level.

Best recent performance, his win at Worcester last summer came off the back of a break some hope that he can repeat the trick here off a similar absence. Only 1lb above that last winning mark over a trip that he should enjoy; could play a part.

Tried the patience of his connections over the years (still a maiden 0-23); went close to winning at Huntingdon on Boxing Day (beaten a short-head). Been all downhill since then though (failed to complete last twice); on balance others preferred.

Becoming really hard to win with and as yet hasn't managed a win for this yard who are usually good at turning such types around. Made hard work of things back over hurdles last time in cheekpieces; now back over fences with blinkers returning.

Point-to-point winner whose hurdles form when trained in Ireland was no better than modest. Fell on his one previous try over fences under Rules; looked to need his first outing for this yard over hurdles here last time; comes with risks attached.

Consistent sort who deserves to get his head in front and is a Placepot players dream (placed in last five starts). Regular here he was tried over this trip last time in a better race than he needs to run in; dropped in grade, bold show anticipated.

Phoenix Rock30
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-8| J: Jonjo O'Neill Jr.(3)| T: J & A O'Neill| OR:  82

Given a confident ride on her last two chasing starts; perhaps an overly confident one last time (given plenty to do) when second over C&D. Up 4lb for that placed effort she's very much in the mix here with a slightly more pro-active ride expected.

Often travels well enough in his races but as his record suggests does have trouble getting the job done ultimately. Forced to run from out of the handicap again he's not really one to be making excuses for; hasn't scored since 2015.

Age: 8|  Weight: 10-0| J: Sean Houlihan(3)| T: Miss Sarah Robinson| OR:  59

Continues to show very little over either hurdles or more recently fences; pulled-up on his last two starts. Races (once again) from way out of the handicap, given very little chance even in this low-grade event.

Forecasts

Phoenix Rock (2/1), Streets Of Milan (13/2), Scartare (7/1), Misdflight (8/1), Orchestrated (9/1), Market Road (9/1), Catch My Drift (10/1), Baron Du Plessis (10/1), Larkhall (20/1), Doitforjoe (25/1), Monty Massini (200/1)

Verdict

A few of these have become very hard to win with and having run well in her last two starts PHOENIX ROCK is given a good chance of going one better than last time here over C&D when she conceded first run having been given a very conservative ride. Orchestrated is the other main interest in the race coming back off a break and in a similar situation now to the one that he won at Worcester last year, his mark is decent enough. Scartare will need those two to falter to score but is more consistent than most in this and it’s not hard to see him gaining a place while Streets Of Milan and Market Road can also be considered.
  1. Phoenix Rock
  2. Orchestrated
  3. Scartare
