Off the mark over timber at the 11th time of asking when making all to score at Huntingdon (2m, good; 5-2f) in May. Rested since and this looks a bit tougher on paper.
Point-to-point winner, finished 11L second of eight behind easy odds-on jolly over 2m5½f here in maiden hurdle 16 days ago. Goes handicapping now, with a slight reservation over the drop in trip.
Mare has won at Cartmel (2m1f, soft) and Uttoxeter (2m4f, good to soft) on her last two starts, defying 7lb penalty for second of those with gutsy success. Up another 3lb and meets better ground, but not counted out in current mood.
34-race maiden, 13 of those over timber, but was only just run out of it in second spot here over 2m2½f last time in similar event. Finds himself rated 4lb higher now but holds his chance if in similar mood.
Not much in the way of positives since going handicapping over timber, he's undergone a wind operation since the spring and will need to improve markedly for that procedure.
Arrives here having twice finished third at Uttoxeter (2m, good) on most recent start over hurdles. Essentially passed up a good scoring chance last time, having been left in the lead. Needs to keep his powder dry for a finishing effort.
Showed ability on debut in a bumper at Uttoxeter last year, only bits of promise in four starts over timber but returns from an absence and improved showing entirely possible on forecast quicker ground. Watch betting.
Back from a long absence and failed to impress in three starts at this course in 2019 over 2m1f/2m5½f. Gets a first-time tongue-tie this afternoon, but hard to make a logical case for on form.
Yet to show anything like the form needed to win even an event like this in nine hurdles starts. Blinkers tried last time are retained (also been tried in cheekpieces). First completion last time in last five starts, can only be watched for now.
Failed to build on early promise on the Flat and suffered three wide-margin defeats last year over hurdles. Returns from absence to try his hand in a handicap and doesn't appear one to be weighing in behind.
Dual Flat winner whose form looks fair but hasn't shown anything like that level over hurdles including in handicaps on her last three starts. Pulled up over C&D this month already, faces tough task on form.
Offered only minor promise in three hurdles start last year and 0-14 all told in this sphere now. More bad efforts than good in AW campaign recently and looks up against it back jumping.
Forecasts
Vanderbilt (3/1), Riviere Argentee (5/1), Ourmullion (6/1), Native Soldier (6/1), Kiruna Peak (8/1), Global Anchor (17/2), Indian Harbour (10/1), Show Of Force (14/1), Kapoupakap (20/1), Diamond Reflection (20/1), Minella Rising (20/1), Chica Rapida (40/1)
Ourmullion had a decent chance here last time but finished tired in third having briefly been left in front at the last, he's got to find a finishing kick over this trip. Long-standing maiden Vanderbilt went perilously close over further around here last month and may do so again with a repeat effort while Huntingdon winner Kiruna Peak and Minella Rising are worth consideration. The hat-trick seeking RIVIERE ARGENTEE is the solid one on form and she showed real determination at Uttoxeter last time, ensuring another 3lb hike isn't sure to outfox her.
- Riviere Argentee
- Kiruna Peak
- Vanderbilt
