Had been running with credit but without success last winter before running below par on his latest start at Plumpton in February (pulled too hard). Has run well fresh in the past and looks nicely weighted. Interesting if market speaks in his favour

Has been slowly coming to hand and followed up a placed effort at Cartmel when scoring over course and distance earlier this month. Capable of more progression and one for the shortlist.

Had some useful form over fences for Paul Nicholls a couple of years ago but form has been patchy since over hurdles and the larger obstacles. No real evidence he is capable of turning form around.

Handicap debut; has shown a fair degree of ability including over this course and distance; hard to see him getting competitive after such a long absence and others preferred.

Not disgraced on latest hurdles appearance at Stratford last month (hampered in closing stages). Need to show more but has ability and not totally out of the reckoning.

Won this race last year but came into it in much better form than currently; did win a minor race at Sedgefield three months ago but disappointing since. Hard to assess at present.

Fairly consistent of late at Warwick and Huntingdon but overall level of form does not seem good enough to get serious here.

Has run some good races around this track over slightly futher and returns here after a spell over fences (no great shakes). Return to hurdles may perk him up and looks well handicapped on the best of his form.

Generally consistent but nothing in his four hurdles appearances to date suggest he is likely to get close to winning this contest.

Form from last season would see him going close in the contest but his latest three runs have been well below par and not one to currently get involved with unless the market speaks in his favour

Forecasts

Native Fighter (6/4), Global Tour (3/1), Collodi (7/2), Lucky Robin (13/2), Welland (7/1), Desiremoi D'Authie (8/1), Never A Word (14/1), Glendun (16/1), Outrath (25/1), Far Bihoue (28/1), Red Hanrahan (66/1)

Verdict

With question marks against a number of these contestants it might be wise to stick with the in-form horses GLOBAL TOUR and Native Fighter both of whom scored last time out. Slight preference goes to the former who won well enough at Newton Abbot to suggest he is slightly ahead of the handicapper. The latter won over course and distance and if reproducing that form he should go close. Lucky Robin is interesting returning to the smaller obstacles and should go well if fit after a break.
  1. Global Tour
  2. Lucky Robin
  3. Native Fighter
