Improved from encouraging reappearance at Chelmsford to win 1m Epsom handicap a shade cosily. Up 6lb for that win (but races off 1lb less today) but this is an easier contest and hails from a yard just turning a corner. Respected.
C&D winner in the past and a regular at this track. Out of sorts since Wetherby third at the start of the season, including when last of eight in 1m Handicap here this month but can't be dismissed off likeable mark. Shortlisted.
C&D winner last season on handicap debut but hasn't progressed since. Most recent 8l fourth in 1m2f Beverley handicap leaves something to be desired despite the yards current good form.
Showed some signs of a revival to his best form when only beaten 3l into fourth in 1m2f Beverley handicap at the start of the month. Down 2lb and back in trip for this and is a winner over 1m. Claims.
Seven-time winner who has shown an aptitude for AW and turf, including when landing 1m1f Wolverhampton claimer in May. Rated 2lb lower on grass and well below last winning mark at Catterick on this surface. Leading contender.
Shock winner at Chelmsford in November and now 5lb lower since that success. Uninspiring in six starts since, including over 7f here last time, and unlikely to be troubling the judge.
15-race maiden who defied all previous form to finish 50/1 second in Chester novice (7f, good to firm) in June. Likely that effort was a one-off and tough ask against seasoned performers.
Forecasts
Grey Spirit (8/11), Indomeneo (4/1), Moxy Mares (6/1), Calder Prince (8/1), Scofflaw (16/1), Isabella Ruby (50/1), Sayesse (80/1)
Grey Sprit has been a model of consistency in these type of contests throughout his career and while another bold bid is expected, he is 7lb wrong at the weights and that could allow his rivals to be at an advantage. Indomeneo sparked back to some level of form on his latest start and is already a winner over 1m but preference is for SCOFFLAW, who comes into the race off the back of a win and is a dangerous 8lb lower than his last winning mark on turf.
- Scofflaw
- Grey Spirit
- Indomeneo
