Newmarket juvenile winner for Richard Hannon; placed on two of his three starts for new connections. Remains open to improvement but faces a stiff task off these terms and others preferred at this level.

Looked progressive and consistent when building up to an improved head second in the Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar in May. Very disappointing though the last twice and looked a tricky ride. Stable has won this twice in the last three years.

Barring one poor run in the London Gold Cup he boasts a nice progressive profile. Produced a clear career best at Newbury last time when a narrow defeat can be upgraded due to a slow pace and a slipping saddle. Likely leading contender.

Got an easy lead but the quick surface may have been against him at Ascot last time and his previous very good fourth in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot sets the standard in this field. Consistent performer and a leading hope.

Struggled in the Britannia but that is never a disgrace in one of the strongest handicaps of the season. Back to form when winning at Ripon in what was another step forwards. Front runner has every chance on these terms for a stable in form.

Progressive type in just five starts, two for Andre Fabre and three for current stable and posted a career best second here last time following a course win. Has a fair bit to find off these terms but not inconceivable he could be place competitive.

Verdict

A small field but with a couple of front runners in the field it could be run at a true pace. Persian Moon got a very easy lead last time but that perhaps didn't really play to his strengths and this reliable performer has to be respected off his previous Royal Ascot run. Sameem is progressing, will also likely to look for the lead and won't mind this turning into a strongly run race. That could all play into the hands of the improving MACKAAR who was a reluctant leader early last time and just looks in need of a good pace to aim at.
