Pushed out when springing a 14-1 surprise in a 1m3½f Class 4 Windsor handicap (good to firm) last month; a shade disappointing off this revised mark at Salisbury (1m4f, firm) on Saturday evening.

Consistent and reliable (5-23); is already a dual winner in 2019, although is yet to be tested beyond 1m2f; 3lb above her last winning mark; beaten less than 2L by Mr Scaramanga (Allegiant second - runs earlier) over 1m2f here a fortnight ago.

Hasn't won on the Flat since June 2017 although has plenty of placed form on his CV, including over 1m2f here last July (beaten 1½L by Liva); easing in the weights but generally unconvincing of late.

12/1
Nine-race maiden who has shown his strongest form on the AW, namely when runner up in a 1m4f Newcastle novice last December; well beaten in a peculiar race (winner gifted an unassailable lead) over 1m6f at Nottingham three weeks ago.

Age: 4|  Weight: 8-6| J: Charlie Bennett| T: J R Boyle| OR:  59| CD
11/10
Exploited a falling mark when winning on 'home turf' over C&D (Class 6) a fortnight ago; 5lb higher for that comfortable 3L win (beat Queen's Soldier); rates as plenty more appealing than the majority.

Forecasts

Peace Prevails (11/10), Ashazuri (11/4), El Borracho (4/1), Jumping Jack (9/1), Jawshan (12/1)

Verdict

Ashazuri is a consistent and reliable filly who tackles this 1m4f trip for the first time after finishing a creditable third to Mr Scaramanga over 1m2f here a fortnight ago. Her dam (Shesha Bear) was a winner over this trip so that offers some hope that she'll stay the extra yardage and there's always the distinct possibility that in a small-field scenario her stamina won't be truly put to the test. However, we'll err on the side of caution with the recent C&D winner PEACE PREVAILS who remains reasonably handicapped despite a 5lb rise.
  1. Peace Prevails
  2. Ashazuri
  3. El Borracho
