Has held his form well since returning from hurdles; followed up a close Goodwood third (1m3f) by winning over 1m2f at Leicester three weeks ago; 3lb higher for a ½L defeat of the Alan King-trained Junderstand; key player.
Hasn't the most consistent of profiles but equally is a useful handicapper when everything clicks into place; 4lb higher than when beating the subsequent Chelmsford winner Spirit Warning over 1m here (good) in April; stamina to prove.
Wouldn't appear to be obviously well handicapped and ideally would need to drop the anchor early doors in order to last home over 1m2f; on the plus side, this race represents an easier option than his previous visit to Epsom (Class 2).
Evidently appreciates the unique test of the Epsom Downs; 7lb higher than when winning over 1m here last September; was gaining at the finish when beaten ½L by the front-running Mr Scaramanga over C&D latest; boasts solid credentials.
Clobbered by the handicapper (raised 10lb) following a 13L romp at Brighton (1m4f, good to firm) in April; twice beaten since, including at odds of 2-7f in a match race; drops back in trip tonight.
Ran out a commanding 4L winner of a Class 6 handicap at Bath (1m3½f, good to soft) on her penultimate start earning a 7lb rise to a joint-career high mark; dwelt and in rear throughout when bidding to follow up at Windsor; trip sharp enough?
Won by 5L when scoring over 1m4f here in June 2016 (the third leg of a hat-trick); reasonably attractively handicapped assuming that he's able to cope with this drop back in trip (has regularly competed over 1m4f-2m since late 2018).
Forecasts
Allegiant (13/8), Agent Basterfield (4/1), Multamis (9/2), Kheros (11/2), Miss M (10/1), Stormingin (12/1), Hatsaway (20/1)
The dropped in trip Hatsaway is an interesting runner from a handicapping perspective and it could pay to follow the market signals if the Pat Phelan-trained gelding attracts any form of positive support. However, more likely candidates on the basis of recent form include the Leicester scorer Stormingin and the course specialist ALLEGIANT. The selection was a fast-finishing (and arguably unlucky) second to the front-running Mr Scaramanga over C&D latest. He is strongly fancied to cope with a subsequent 2lb rise in the weights at a course which clearly plays to his strengths.
