Generally goes from the front with his form coming in patches (appears in a decent one at moment) although he's never been successful off a mark this high. Two respectable efforts of late but others are more persuasive; 0-8 at this venue.

Irresolute type who used to be very hard to win with but turned that situation around last year with three handicap chase wins. Not in such good form of late with the handicapper looking to have got hold of him; third here over 2m4f last time.

His second over C&D last time matched the pick of his hurdles form and although he was beaten 9L he had little chance against the well-handicapped/rejuvenated The Jam Man. Still relatively unexposed in this sphere; type to do better with experience.

First-time cheekpieces and a previous outing appeared to be the catalysts behind a first chase win at Newton Abbot (2m5f) last time despite running in snatches. 5lb higher for that win, he has to be respected in this grade, may do better again.

Not seen for a fair while now having been well below-par when last seen at Ludlow (3m). Last win came via the fall of Iskabeg Lane (March 2018) after he had produced a laboured round of jumping; underfoot conditions looks a little quick for him.

Consistent form since returning from a break in March this year apart from one poor run recording a Market Rasen win over 2m5f and four runner-up slots. Can be a little awkward though; looked a difficult ride in the closing stages last time.

Course winner here over hurdles that victory coming as the third leg of a four-timer in summer last year. Not won since completing the leg of that achievement including being tried over fences twice (jumped poorly); overall chasing record 1-14.

See Double Youp7
Age: 16|  Weight: 10-1| J: Aidan Coleman| T: R McNally| OR:  91| D

Belied his age to take a handicap hurdle on his last start aided by a rapidly falling mark at Roscommon (3m1f, good). No stranger to fences (3-27) but 3lb higher than his last chase win; 10lb higher than his recent hurdles win; can't be written off.

Forecasts

See Double You (4/1), Battle Of Ideas (4/1), Atomic Rumble (4/1), Mr Mafia (5/1), Elkstone (7/1), Iskabeg Lane (8/1), Little Windmill (10/1), Shanty Town (40/1)

Verdict

There will be plenty of interest in the Ronan McNally 16-year-old See Double You who showed his well being over hurdles last time and of course the trainer is well known here for pulling off a sizeable recent gamble with The Jam Man. Iskabeg Lane has been consistent over fences but like Little Windmill and Elkstone it's hard to know which of them is going to turn up. Battle Of Ideas didn’t look an easy ride last time but battled on well enough to open his chase account, he’s still off a lower mark than he’s rated over hurdles. ATOMIC RUMBLE ran into The Jam Man last time and he won’t meet a rival that’s so well handicapped this time around.
  1. Atomic Rumble
  2. Battle Of Ideas
  3. See Double You
