Stable do well with veteran's (won with 16yo this week) and he ran his best race for a while last time out. Had the run of things at Downpatrick so probably flattered; tongue-tie goes on first time for handicap chase debut, should get involved.

Returned to form and ended a long losing run over hurdles at Kilbeggan (3m), penultimate start before failing to follow up again over timber off a 6lb higher mark. Reverts to fencing (maiden in this sphere; 0-9); others make more appeal.

Flattered by his second in a Kilbeggan novice last time when not given a hard time but with the race falling apart around him. Got fairly close to a useful sort (Dinions), looks well handicapped on that basis if the form can be trusted.

Winning point-to-pointer who has yet to win under Rules but has compiled some decent efforts over both hurdles/fences. Didn't jump fluently the last time he was seen over fences but still finished second; this trip should suit, likely to run well.

C&D winner but has run without much dash or enthusiasm of late over hurdles even a break not giving any cause for optimism. Now back over fences off a higher mark, there is little evidence to recommend him at the moment.

Tongue-tie (first-time) now in place with blinkers for his return to fences where he remains an eight-race maiden. Ran respectably when tried in the blinds before; has some ability as he showed at Fairyhouse when third off a 3lb higher mark.

Another one donning blinkers for the first-time he looked rusty last time when making his stable debut at Tramore after an 11-month absence. Would have an outside chance on his best form but a hard one to get totally enthused over.

Several poor efforts to his name and he fared no better brought back to fences after a short break at Wexford last time; a mistake 3 out ending his chance. Now tried in a first-time visor having slipped back to his last winning mark.

Fared far better than of late at Wexford last time a couple of late mistakes hampering his efforts before he stayed on well to finish a fair fourth. Behind a well-handicapped winner he would have a chance if repeating that performance.

Has a fair absence to overcome but if she is ready then she would have a fair chance based on her best form of last year. You do have to go back to 2013 for her last win though and a chase record of 1-35 isn't that appealing.

Forecasts

Star Of Oscar (11/4), Ocean Glandore (5/1), Black Spot On (11/2), Rock Road (6/1), Home Place (13/2), Attalco (12/1), Cadawill (12/1), Naughty Molly (16/1), Shanklys Dawn (16/1), Loch Luatha (20/1), Penance (20/1), B C's Pride (33/1)

Verdict

Not a particularly deep contest with some fairly weak form on offer overall. There could be a real blot on the handicap in the shape of Rock Road after his second to Dinions at Killarney but that form could be dubious and it may pay to look elsewhere for the winner of this. Star Of Oscar needs to polish up his jumping in this sphere but his last run at Tramore puts him firmly in the mix along with Attalco and Home Place. The Ronan McNally team are in super form proving age is no barrier to them in getting one to win and that may well open the door for BLACK SPOT ON to score. He may have been slightly flattered at Downpatrick but he’s taken to get off the mark over fences despite topweight.
