Hasn't won for two years and comes into this on the back of three poor efforts. Dropped 6lb since his last run and plenty to prove over what might be an inadequate trip.

Placed over C&D last July and generally consistent (without winning) since; races from 3lb below his last successful mark and competitively weighted just now. Visored for the first time but the draw could have been a lot kinder.

Won twice (at Carlisle) recently but held when sent off as market leader for the consolation race for the Carlisle Bell back at his favourite course last time out; respected but career best needed. Handy draw for his style of running though.

Previous C&D winner but usually takes at least a couple of runs to put him straight. Was below par on his seasonal debut in May and now has a bit to prove despite being on a reasonably attractive mark.

Been struggling to rediscover his form this season and looks one to be wary of despite being set to race from 3lb below his last winning mark. Also never won over this trip.

Should handle the ground but both runs poor since returning from a break, so a bit to prove on that score. Is a previous C&D winner and attractively weighted in comparison to best past form, so still dangerous to underestimate.

Looks the stable's main hope on jockey bookings and has to merit an interest given that the gelding has dropped 16lb in the handicap since he joined his current yard. Wide draw is a set-back but still worth a betting check.

Goes well on the Roodee and versatile regarding the trip; gone close here the last twice and very feasible the mare can add to her undeservedly low return of just one win from 20 previous starts on turf. Contender.

Second in a rough and tumble renewal of this race last year (Baltic Prince 4th, My Amigo 5th) and weighted to go close again from just a 2lb higher mark. In decent form at present and worth considering as shortlist material at least.

C&D winner on good to soft last September but went up 10lb for that success and the handicapper has been slow with lenience since. Hinted at a return to form on the AW lately but poor strike-rate on turf is a negative. (3lb out of the handicap.)

12lb wrong at the weights and arrives on the back of a string of moderate performances; very hard to recommend.

0-9 so far and back over this trip after failing to make an impact over 1m2f. His yard is enjoying a healthy strike rate but this fellow is one of those that is unlikely to boost the statistics if he runs to recent form.

Forecasts

Redarna (3/1), Coviglia (7/2), Bell Heather (9/2), Ballymount (8/1), My Amigo (9/1), Humble Gratitude (10/1), Rockesbury (14/1), Baltic Prince (20/1), Capton (25/1), Echo Of Lightning (25/1), Salam Zayed (28/1), Rock Warbler (66/1)

Verdict

A chance is taken on BELL HEATHER, who goes well at this course and will be a big player if she can get a good tow into the race from the pace that is close to the rail. Rockesbury has a stiff test at the weights but is another with a decent record at Chester; he would be a threat to all if allowed an easy lead. Humble Gratitude has a solid profile and also merits consideration, while Redarna arrives in good form and is another worth checking out. The well handicapped Ballymount would also be dangerous to underestimate despite having a wide draw to contend with this time.
  1. Bell Heather
  2. Rockesbury
  3. Humble Gratitude
