Yet to win since scoring on the Flat at the Curragh in 2017. Returned to that sphere last time out, finishing second. Didn't shine on his first run for new yard over hurdles at Hexham prior to that. Flat run may have livened him up.
Bumper winner and ran well behind subsequent Festival winner Envoi Allen at Navan last winter. Has been in decent enough form in two maiden hurdles. By Central Park , with a decent pedigree. On the shortlist.
Gelding by Ask. Related to a winner. Eased down after making a mistake on debut. Tongue-tie remains in place for this second start. Probably best watched for now.
Two runs in maiden hurdles, placed fourth on both starts. Saddle slipped on hurdles debut so the effort was even more admirable. Jockey change from those starts. Yard still out of form with 41 runners since last winner.
Still a maiden after eight runs in current yard. Ex Luca Cumani (maiden also). Has shown promise in recent runs both in maiden hurdles and last time out back on the flat. Not out of this.
Placed in last two runs. Lord Du Sud gelding, cheap purchase at €8,500. Related to two winners and has shown enough to warrant respect in this contest.
Showed promise when fifth in a bumper here in May. Related to four winners and by Presenting. Stable not in the best of form of late.
Dam related to several winners. One run in a bumper finishing way down the field. Stable on a long losing run. May be best watched.
Rules debut. Pulled up in two point-to-points. By Robin Des Pres and related to a winner. Trainer 272 days without a winner.
Second in a maiden hurdle on first run for current powerful yard (first two 20L clear of the rest of the field). By Yeats and related to three winners. Obvious choice here.
Could be considered inconsistent as can put in a good run then show nothing on the next occasion. Has finished second on the last two occasions but may find a few ahead of him here.
Ran out approaching the third hurdle last time out at Wexford. Had previously shown temperament. Wears blinkers for the first time here; they could work the oracle or go the other way. Best watched.
Hails from top yard. Purchased for 40,000, a daughter of Kayf Tara. Needs to up her game to be involved here.
Eight year old mare by Rakti making her racecourse debut. Not sold at the HIT sales of 2012. Trainer's last winner was 2650 days ago. Best watched.
Forecasts
Pakens Rock (7/4), The Abbey (3/1), Whatsyourstatus (3/1), Chasing Abbey (8/1), Dunbar (16/1), City Limits (20/1), Michael's Pick (25/1), Khudha (33/1), Onenightintown (33/1), Aileens Joy (50/1), Kiss Me Kayf (66/1), Princessofdiamonds (66/1), Askthebossman (100/1), Mick Mixy (100/1)
Not the greatest maiden hurdle. THE ABBEY is taken to score a maiden success after a very decent second last time out. Pakens Rock had decent form in bumpers and looks well able to make the placings here. City Limits is still a maiden but runs consistently so can be considered for a place in this rather weak contest.
- The Abbey
- Pakens Rock
