Had been running well this season before disappointing when quietly fancied for the Royal Hunt Cup (1m, soft) on latest start. Usually performs well on quicker ground but only dropped 1lb and this could be tough off top weight.
Consistent in 4-5 starts this season and wasn't disgraced when third in 1m2f Chelmsford handicap last month. Races off the same mark and looks to be as effective on turf. Solid place claims.
Won the Suffolk Stakes off a lengthy break before finishing eighth of 11 at Epsom (1m2f, good) last time out. Quite possible he can put that run behind him and trainer does well with progressive older horses. Leading chance.
Made a successful switch to turf when landing C&D class 3 contest three weeks ago in impressive style. Has been raised 7lb in the handicap for that win and this is a tougher contest, but no reason why can't progress.
C&D winner last season and has improved this year without getting his head in front for new yard Second in 1m2f Epsom handicap (Elector finished eighth) and leniently treated in the weights for that run. One for the shortlist.
Found wanting in listed company when last seen at Dundalk (1m, standard) in October. Has a lengthy absence to contend with and has a speedy pedigree, but remains interesting on stable and handicap debut.
Continued good form when second of five at Goodwood (1m4f, soft) in June and remains on that same mark, but a career best is required here to be competitive.
Progression seemed to stop when disappointing eighth of nine at Ripon (1m2f, good to soft) on latest start. Still 5lb above last winning mark and needs to step up against tougher opposition. Best watched.
Finished third in the AW Easter Classic but flopped on turf reappearance with seventh in 1m Salisbury handicap nine days ago. Looks to be better on a synthetic surface these days and others have more appeal.
Consistent this season and recently finished second of six at Pontefract (1m2f, good) off a 2lb lower mark. On a workable mark and open to improve, but this is requires a career best and looks up against it.
Forecasts
Elector (5/2), Jazeel (7/2), Beringer (11/2), Exec Chef (11/2), Badenscoth (9/1), Hyanna (12/1), Hats Off To Larry (14/1), Harbour Breeze (16/1), Mutaabeq (20/1), Pactolus (33/1)
ELECTOR made an impressive start to the season and while he flopped at Epsom on his previous start, the form of his Newmarket win is strong and it would be dangerous to dismiss a Sir Michael Stoute four-year-old who is likely to continue improving. He may reverse the form with Jaleel who is likely to run his usually respectable race but has a knack of finding one horse too good, while Badenscoth's previous C&D form warrants him to respect, but another step up is required to be competitive at this level.
- Elector
- Jazeel
- Badenscoth
