Scotch Hall Shopping Centre Ladies Day Handicap (45-65)

Off time: 19:21 | Winning time: 2m 48.33s

(16)

Eight And Bob³¹

Age: 6| Weight: 10-0| J: Gary Carroll| T: W P Mullins| OR: 65| D

6/5

Won for the second time on the Flat when landing a Tipperary 1m4½f contest last month off a 10lb lower mark. Life more difficult under a penalty but very much a leading player with the yard among the winners on the level this week.

Form: 9104/U-1

(6)

Shamad⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 9-10| J: D W O'Connor⁽³⁾| T: Peter Fahey| OR: 61

7/1

Yet to get off the mark in 12 Flat starts on turf, with the Shamardal gelding running well in defeat in a number of starts since returning to action in May. One of the more intriguing contenders.

Form: 770-832

(3)

Ingleby Mackenzie^p1,t¹⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 9-9| J: Ross Coakley| T: E Doyle| OR: 60| D

10/1

Two from 17 on turf, the Sixties Icon gelding won on the Flat and over hurdles in an excellent summer campaign last year. Not in the form required right now to play a part.

Form: 72/1-000

(1)

Cache Queen⁹

Age: 4| Weight: 9-7| J: Rory Cleary| T: A McGuinness| OR: 58

20/1

Needs to recapture the form of her second of 21 beaten ¾L in a Leopardstown 1m4f handicap in May. That race has produced a 32% win and place strike rate subsequently from 17 runners.

Form: 002807

(11)

Important Message⁶⁰

Age: 7| Weight: 9-4| J: P B Beggy| T: D P Dunne| OR: 55| D

12/1

Without a win in eight Flat starts on turf and the New Approach gelding has looked badly out of form in a number of starts since April. Handicap mark continues to fall but hard to be confident at present.

Form: 880-058

(14)

Lizard Point¹⁴

Age: 6| Weight: 9-2| J: C P Hoban| T: P J Flynn| OR: 53

7/1

26-race maiden on turf but the Fastnet Rock gelding has posted a couple of promising efforts at Gowran Park and Limerick recently and is not without hope in this company.

Form: 5-19023

(4)

Steelyeyed^p¹²

Age: 5| Weight: 9-0| J: N G McCullagh| T: P Martin| OR: 51

20/1

Sent off at double figure prices in a couple of turf starts last month, running accordingly on both occasions. Now 16lb below last winning mark and others preferred.

Form: 006-040

(8)

Sheila's Empire¹⁵

Age: 4| Weight: 8-13| J: C D Maxwell⁽³⁾| T: G P Cromwell| OR: 50

40/1

12-race maiden remain without success in six starts on turf following a dour effort to finish last of 11 beaten 35L at Leopardstown last month. Makes little appeal.

Form: 26-5090

(12)

Spanish Dawn^h,t⁶³

Age: 5| Weight: 8-13| J: D A McCormack⁽⁵⁾| T: J C McConnell| OR: 50

33/1

Lightly-raced on turf the daughter of Helmet has recently been seen running well in defeat on the AW at Dundalk since the turn of the year. Improvement needed if she is to take this event.

Form: 1-23540

(17)

Roses Queen²¹

Age: 4| Weight: 8-11| J: C G O'Dwyer⁽¹⁰⁾| T: C O'Dwyer| OR: 48| D

14/1

Deservedly off the mark at the 15th time of asking for connections when landing a Fairyhouse handicap over a similar trip last month off a 3lb lower mark. One for the shortlist.

Form: 090731

(10)

Barbie O'Conor²¹⁰

Age: 4| Weight: 8-10| J: A J Farragher⁽⁷⁾| T: D Kinsella| OR: 47

66/1

Lightly raced daughter of Roderic O'Connor who finished 18L adrift of the winner of a Leopardstown 1m1f maiden on her sole turf start in October. Hard to place any faith in.

Form: 060-

(2)

Aasleagh Fawn^t1¹¹

Age: 4| Weight: 8-9| J: Gary Halpin| T: G P Cromwell| OR: 46

7/1

Five-race maiden on turf but has shown plenty of promise in a couple of spins at Navan and last month at Ballinrobe. Fancied to go well in first time tongue tie.

Form: 7000-36

(9)

Brokopondo^p¹⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 8-9| J: Alan Persse⁽⁷⁾| T: C Cannon| OR: 46| D

Winner of two of his 41 starts on turf and the Bushranger gelding now races off a 24lb lower mark than his last success. Well below par form set to continue.

Form: 767507

Age: 5| Weight: 8-8| J: M A Gallagher| T: P Stafford| OR: 45

18/1

With Willie Mullins saddling Diamond Hill to win on the Flat at this meeting on Wednesday, a confident shout can be given to the yards, EIGHT AND BOB. The six-year-old won on his most recent start at Tipperary last month and the 10lb penalty may not be enough to stop the Big Bad Bob gelding. The luckless, Shamad can once again hit the frame for connections while the Denis Hogan-trained, Sharg and Important Message ridden by Irish Derby winning jockey, Padraig Beggy, can battle for minor honours.
